View Full Version : RS600 for sale in Minneapolis :)

The RS6
February 13th, 2010, 07:07
Hello, came upon this article, thought some of you Americans may be interested...

Six of jailed money manager Trevor Cook’s cars, which will be up for auction Saturday in downtown Minneapolis, surrounded Matt Rabanus of Classic Auto Storage. Most are high-mileage, relatively low-value cars. But the one in the front right is the real prize of the bunch, a highly modified Audi screamer that Cook bought from a financial expert in Switzerland. It’s expected to fetch more than $30,000.

Among Trevor Cook's cars up for auction is a wolf-in-sheep's-clothing Audi RS600 sedan that does 200 mph.

Jason,

We were keeping this thread at the bottom of the page to keep everyone out.

I was ready to go 50k if needed but the vin closed the deal.

NO VIN=NO LICENSE PLATES.

Marshal title only gives ownership of the asset. Serial number stamped on inner fender only gives asset status. No way could you title and license this car in the US.

Inside information says the state of MN revoked the title and plates to this car.

DOA as far as I was concerned. Parts car only.

I would like the seats and wheels for starters. Floor mats were kind of cool. The stearing wheel and bling -- forget about it.

Plus the "My other car is a Fieroborghini." bumpersticker never would have come off without leaving residue.

Seriously, the guy had a bunch of hoopties, including, yes, a fiero with a lambo kit body in his "collection."

At least this (untitleable) rarity will never be pawed on by that ponzi-scheming toolbag again.

Let me tell you a story.

http://i950.photobucket.com/albums/ad348/03RSTT/RS6pics/monkey_smoking_1a.jpg?t=1266130082

There once was a Audi RS600 that found its way to the USA. Cheating ponzi man got busted and the poor RS600 went to the hands of a dirtbag auction house. Several RS6 owners made the last minute attempt to save the RS600 from certain doom when Mrs DMV got involved.

http://i950.photobucket.com/albums/ad348/03RSTT/RS6pics/dmv_lady.jpg?t=1266130236

She foiled the last ditch attempt for the RS6 owners to save this beast. Instead these guys got the car.

I was thinking the same thing until seeing the Craigslisting in the next post -- $80K get real. If I put $50K more into my car I could get way more out of it than that car had and my doors close properly and my trim is all in place to begin with.

Than there is the small matter of no VIN under the windshield or on any of the doors -- mine is also legal.

I am sure it will show up again in a few months if not sooner.

It will more than likely get snatched up by authorities when "he" fails to register it or plate it (if "he" can) and then get pulled over doing 55 in a 35..

Yes...

To you and me , no way is it worth the risk of potentially crashing your 'illegal' $50K car ...but for some window washers that poop out cash apparently...its prolly no big deal to get caught with your pants down like that. Crashed the car?...wash more windows, get more money and get it fixed.

A dealer plate carries a blanket insurance coverage also.

Getting caught with an illegal car and your dealer plate will also get you thrown in jail with the loss of your dealer plate.

I dont think its all worth driving the one and only 6speed RS6.

I doubt the window washer has a dealer plate and we agree on his brain power to throw money around.

Pat-lets open a window wash company. There must be money in it. We are in the wrong business. Hell, lets go work for Serious windows...

Nice -- first post. Congratulations.

Not to state the obvious but whatever they could sell it for.

Realistically 80K is is off of the charts. Good examples of RS6s are going for upper 20s to mid 30s with relatively low mileage.

For another 15K they would be more of a car than this RS600 and legal from the get go. They would also be original paint with all the trim and doors fitting and not missing the rear sun screen (warm weather package) and most of all not have to be de-blinged (those horrid badges on the fenders have got to go).

Less than you paid for it :harass: $45k

It's not collectible, it's just a nicely modded RS6. Sportec is just a tuner. The car's "rarity" means nothing in terms of it's value. It's not rare, it's modded. Big difference.

A zero-mile RS6 might be worth something some day (decades) after guys like us burn the rest of them into the ground. But not this sled.

I miss all the fun just going for a bike ride.

Ben-nice job on the bust. You got dinner coming your way.

The car is not that rare. In the US...sure but its illegal so how are you going to deal with that? Hmmm? No VIN, no auto title and you think it can be plated in the US? So you wish to come fishing around here and stir up the pot too? Geez, take the car and drive off a cliff.

Sportec modified several hundred RS6's. No big deal. Just a couple of turbos and some tuning. Hell, someone has taken part of the Sportec kit off the car. The intercoolers, ducting and grills have been removed. Did they take more off? Are the upgraded turbos still there? who knows.

6speed conversion. Maybe 10-12 cars were done at MTM.

The car is not that clean. The repaint and color change is a fair job with body panels not fit properly. Silver paint is visible in the wheel arches. Paint is peeling from the roof rails. Did I miss anything?

As a parts car the parts are worth 30k. If you can get title and plates for the car its worth 45k.

End of story......no let me rant some more. Did I mention our cars have years of warranty left? As an example, mine is fully covered till 2015. How much does that make my car worth? 150k or so.

I've been observing this and have a few cents worth of thoughts.

Are we confusing un-legal with un-safe??? Is there anything on this car to suggest it's not safe to be driven on US roads in comparison to a 2003 US RS6?

I live in Pennsylvania and I could legally switch the VIN tags on the car. I would buy the cheapest 4.2 A6 I could find and swap the VIN plates. The firewall stamp might take some effort, but might not even be an issue, though as only one or two of the VIN tags have to match I want to recall. Then I'd have to modify the insurance policy for all the 'modifications'. I know that there is some fine print here but it can be done to get the car on the road.

Then at this point, the state wouldn't really care as long as it passes the annual inspection (safety and emissions). I know that that my inspection shop wouldn't raise an eyebrow if I explained to them the car's history.

And lastly, a 6 speed RS6 could be a reality if I could find a cheap one with a bad engine or transmission. Or if I can find a willing soul with some coin.

Hilarious pix guys ! LOL

The car doesn't exist on paper here in the states...who would know (other than Fed DOT) that's its illegal? Its just a car, just like a 2003 Rs6 really from the looks of it driving around with a dealer plate on it. Could be any used C5 that has a salvaged title even and been 're-built'. Well, LOL, everyone does know now its illegal and for sure wherever this car ends up...the Feds will come take it away sooner or later, registered or not.

Typical US Govt agancies not working together/communicating tho...the Marshalls should have never offered it up for sale....and the DOT should have confiscated it as soon as the story hit the www.

Interesting -- I thought this was illegal. Also if done than the car would have to have a salvage title which would drop its value. The ECU stores the VIN and that would be wrong. Add in that this car has custom Software and Custom parts and who in the world can service it. Read the first link in the ownership history http://www.rs6.com/showthread.php/12264-RS600-Manual-Transmission/page3 post #54.
The Job

THE JOB

Early this year the car was finished.....it was an amazing project. You can imagine how many things had to be changed.

1. The Manual Gearbox broke the entire electronic system (ECM) so the car was sent to Bosch (Germany) to be reprogrammed.

2. The Manual Gearbox breaks ABS, had to be re-engineered and re-programmed as well.

3. Power distribution between front and rear axles....a very difficult balance and a hell of a job done by MTM. This is ALL custom work....these pieces cannot be ordered they need to be engineered.( NOTE: This is the part that Sportec claimed was impossible and they refused the work.)

4. The Tires (needed for the horsepower) were so large that they created braking problems so an entire new braking system had to engineered. I think Porsche had their hands in this, or a least the parts came from Porsche.

----------------------

The last thing I want to say is that MTM is AWESOME !!

Not only is this car a nightmare to license but there is no one on this continent that can service it if the ECM or ABS fails. Read further on page four post #56:

The Police

Well....all good things must come to an end.

I was detained by the Swiss Police for speeding and the car was impounded. Mr. Balsen is correct. If this would not have happened, I would never be writing this thread....I would be out racing!

Unfortunately, one of the policeman was a huge Audi fan and realized that the car had a manual transmission. In Switzerland you have to have a Handelregistrarsauszug, (registration), which includes an exact description of the car (torque, horsepower, etc). If the registation doesn't match the car, then you have to get a new one....which involves an inspection of the car. At one point, the Swiss Police contacted Sportec because of the markings on the engine and Sportec denied the 610 Horsepower.....funny shit!

Since the Swiss Authorities would need to disassemble the car completely to make a proper inspection, we agreed that they would return the car and I would export it immediately to the US. The car arrives in the States this week.

Check out the Pics of the car at the shipping yard!

Look out Vipers....when I'm in the States you will be getting you ass kicked by a family sedan! :incar:

!
!

By the way the battery is in the spare tire compartment which is a big DOT no-no from what I have read and would also need to be relocated to the same location as other US RS6s.

Exactly.

You are at risk around every corner. Not how I wish for 44k to end up in the hands of Nancy Pelosi. Thank you very much.

Now the guy wants 55k? 80k? Please, we are not that stupid. If the car was worth it....we were standing right there to bid and take it.

Its a parts car and once the parts are ripped off it the value is squat. 30k.

Edit: We also found out that some of the Sportec components have been removed from the car. I know this for a fact. Major components have been removed. I wont say which but that fact along with the VIN and I was not bidding on the car over 30k.

Its a 30k car. plain and simple.

Hilarious pix guys ! LOL

Typical US Govt agancies not working together/communicating tho...the Marshalls should have never offered it up for sale....and the DOT should have confiscated it as soon as the story hit the www.

I'm 100% with what you say Dave. Its really too bad it all went down like this....especially for the window guy who bought the boobie. It would be a shame to part it out but it might be good for some of who are lucky to get some good bits off it if it comes to that. But man, what disappointing mess for the general public.

Anyway here's some interesting info here: http://www.epa.gov/fedrgstr/EPA-IMPACT/2007/September/Day-27/i19118.htm

I'll make offers on the seats and rims (they need to be refinished because of curb rash). If the owner is here PM me and let's work out a deal!

Dave -- clear your inbox I can't PM you.

Oh I forgot -- I will also make offers on the LED tail-lights and the Floor Mats that have the RS6 Logo on them and possibly the RNS-E if it works properly and has an updated US DVD.

Uhhh- Jealous??- I think not! We still have our money in the bank. It seems as if someone else converted walking around money into an unknown/penny stock type gamble- lacking copper or proper fitting panels...May I be bold enough to suggest a crane add-on and film production as an option. In another 2 or 3 minutes, you all will move on to ridiculing po me, and I may just have to find a dark corner and cry myself to sleep- again.
