Just one thing I would add : change ATF and filter - every 2 years or 20,000 miles?

So add:

1 01L-325-429-B Strainer
1 01L-325-443 Gasket
1 01L-321-371 Gasket
7 G-052-162-A2 ATF Oil

Just got copies of all my service records at dealer and mine was done last May at 32K.

So what's the schedule beyond 95k?

V8weight
April 7th, 2010, 02:06
So what's the schedule beyond 95k?
There's a noticeable trend that just continues on. Oil changes every 10k, spark plugs/ filters/etc. every 20k, timing belt service every 40k.

What's the recommended replacement interval?

Well, there isn't a recommended interval on coil pack replacement. It's common knowledge that electrical components build resistance with age, but I don't know how it would be measurable in terms of mileage. I would without a doubt say that if one fails you should replace all eight. I guess maybe replace as preventative maintenance at 100k?

June 30th, 2010, 05:57
Audi tt guys say replace them at the 50K to 70K interval. The early 225bhp tt's take the exact same coil as ours. Audi uses at least two manufacturers, Hitachi & Beru. Most tt guys think the Hitachi coils are better. I just did all 8 of mine with new plugs & MAF's at 59K and the car runs better than I ever remember.

So does Audi actually have scheduled maintenance interval on auto tranny fluid/filter? Or do folks do the common sense thing and replace every couple of years?

V8weight
September 24th, 2010, 00:47
Audi does not specify an interval for trans fluid changes stating that it's "lifetime fluid". I personally do mine every 20k miles, but every 40k would probably be sufficient.

September 24th, 2010, 01:08
As V8weight mentioned, Audi says the fluid is for life, how long that life is becomes debatable. ZF who manufacturers the transmission on the other hand, says that under heavy and severe use (I think 450~500bhp constitutes severe) to change it ever 60K.

good info, thx...I agree with the people that actually make the transmission :)

Hi, all!

It seems that there is an error in part number list for timing belt service (35000 and so on).
You've stated part number 077 109 244 C both for rollers and tensioner lever.
The actual number for tensioner lever is 077 109 485 F.

Audi dealer mails me via usps and letter says "its time for your 70,000 mile service" and they include a coupon for 10% off but do not list what needs done. According to the list below there is no "70,000 mile service interval" Can anyone advise on what they make of this?

I do understand that with my RS6 currently at 70,xxx it's time for me to start saving for the major service @ 75,000. Thniking of paying Dion a visit in NJ for that....

I just got the same letter/coupon from the dealer for 90000 service.

Dealer doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground sometimes.

Stick with the listed intervals you referenced.

Thanks! Just checking are we sure it is ok to use oil for Turbo Diesel Applications in the RS6? Also does anyone have a good & economical online supplier of everything needed for an oil change? Thinking Filter and Oil, not sure if new drain plug is needed? TIA

TXT was actually a diesel app oil :)

I use ECS for fluids and filters. Genuine doesnt ship fluids unfortunately.

As for the drain plug, I change the gasket only N0138503. If yours is getting rounded out it might be a good idea to change the whole plug (028103059A + N0138503).

Any changes in engine oil required due to the severe reduction of zinc additive lately ?
This was done to protect sensors in pollution sensors for late model cars, but does a lot of damage
especially on cars with tappets, but also on more modern engines.

Question for the experts: I'm about to buy an RS6 with 124k miles. Timing belt was last done in 2013 for the 75k mile service. I'm curious how folks manage their 100k+ services... Do you simply restart the first "35k" service schedule at 115k miles (40k miles after the last timing belt), and adjust everything off of that? Maybe I answered my own question, just curious whether folks have made deviations after 100k.

I also found a service schedule from an import shop that said airbag replacement is every 14 years, regardless of mileage... does anyone do this?

I saw that airbag notice in the manual as well, but after some research I found and article that covered this concern on The Telegraph. There is an industry standards committee called 'Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders' that as of 2010 based on their research changed their original replacement recommendation (10 years) and updated one (15 years) to 'never' based on long-term testing results.

For the rest of the maintenance items the way I look at this as a recent buyer is that no matter how rosy of a picture the previous owner may have given the only way to be sure of your current state is to get it done, especially for the items that carry risk of damage if not attended to (that would be timing belt and company for sure!) so in the spirit of Nike, Just do it!

Thanks for that update! The reference I had with the airbag mention was 2010, so sounds like it was superseded by what you cited.
