I haven't been too impressed with the way my RS6 was shifting. Kind of like an old Power Glide. (slow and soft) So I sent the TCU to Hoppen. Mike called today saying it already had the Giac mod. I'm having them modify to the MTM. I hope I'm not expecting too much. I sent the serial # to Giac to see if it is registered. Is there an easy way to see if the ECU has been already modified? When it warms up, I'll see if it boosts beyond stock.

I think you've already pegged the easiest way, extra boost. Anything over 1700mb (apparent censensus for factory boost) would indicate that. Not sure if GIAC puts an encryption chip on top of the ECU, but if so, that's another way. Logging is easier.

You don't mention if the shifting in question is at WOT or just cruising. If cruising, you may not notice much difference, especially if it was already modified by GIAC. I've got the MTM TCU mod only and it is noticeable at "spirited" acceleration as well as WOT, but not just loafing.
