HUGE Update. Never going to believe this :)!!

OK - SO much has happened in the past 3 days - i will keep this short and sweet.

Friday - corporate comes in, and dismisses the CEO that laid off his upper management team (including me).

They call us all in, and give us our jobs back. Could i be happier?? No. I feel like this is a dream.

- CAR UPDATE - good and bad news

My "buddy" at the Mercedes dealership bought my RS6 on Thursday. I lost $7,000 on the deal.. but i owed more than it was worth. I needed to unload that car.

When i got my job back - where was the first place i went? To buy my RS6 back. Long story short - they were going to charge me more than i sold it for to get it back.

So what did i do? I bought a new 2010 E63 AMG instead.
I love my RS6 to death.. but i am not willing to lose over $10,000 for it. Pics located below.

Good things happen if you stay positive. I don't want to sound mushy but it really did feel good to get support from you all on the RS6 board. Signing on and getting a positive comment from you guys was pretty awesome :). I wanted to say thank you.

I am glad you took notice of the choice for the RS6 replacement by this owner. I hope Audi has some plan in the works moving forward to keep RS6 owners in the brand. This is a perfect case in point.

Too add another .02c My wife wants a new Avant. Seems like our 11yr old Lexus LX470 is getting too big to cart around the dog ect and she wants something alittle sporty with the same power she is used to driving every day. (500hp E55 AMG). There is nothing out there. I cant even order a new S4 Avant in the USA.

So my search is going back to somehow find a C5 RS6 avant to go with my RS6 sedan. Yes, she noticed the RS6 avant in the movie Layer Cake (dumb movie/cool car) and said find me one of those. There are like 3 RS6 avants in the entire USA and my wife wants me to find one. :doh:

My point is this. Toyota and Lexus lost our business when the cars became tame and boring. I hope Audi does not give up on the performance machines for the US market.

Well.. here's the scoop..

I have had this job for 7+ years. Worked my way up from the bottom. A new CEO comes in - fires his whole upper management. Corporate recognizes that they hired a disaster - and reverses the whole process. The whole thing was a mistake. Unless i choose to stop performing up to what's expected of me - my employment, at this time, is safe.

I am looking into software upgrades and already have my team working on a custom exhaust system for the E63. I know,, the exhaust tips are a little over the top - but i'm sure they won't be there forever.

The car - from a luxury and technology standpoint - is like a spaceship compared to the C5. I know, of course, that the C5 is 7 years old.. but from a daily driver's perspective - it's a wonderful experience.

The past two weeks for me have been insane - but it's all starting to feel back to normal. Oh, and that girl looks the way she does because i was out there taking pics of the car for half an hour ;). And no MBboard.for me - RS6.com will still be the first website i click on every day. I hope you guys don't mind if i post up vids of the exhaust, ect on the benz.

Thank you...I just looked. We can get the A6 avant with the 19" sport suspension package. Hmmmm, why didnt the folks at Audi tell me about this combo the last time I was up there?

I wonder what the 3.0t does with the large A6 avant platform? Remember my wife drives a supercharged E55 every day. (I just checked...both Audi dealers have ZERO A6 avants. @$%@#@$#$@#$ stupid idiots!)

I was thinking about the S4 avant with the 3.0t and then chipping the ecu.

My plan b,c would be to buy a 04 Allroad 4.2 and supercharge it.....or find a 03 S6 Avant 4.2 and supercharge it.

Wow, that E63's front end looks a lot like a first-gen CTS-V. Pretty bad... the tips are Lexus-like.

Also, what were they thinking on that interior? Hideous. Just plain hideous. Like a flashy version of the spaceship in "Flight of the Navigator" WTF?

I understand it's a brand new car, and you can't argue the performance aspect, but this is a step down from the RS 6 in my opinion. Plus, you said you didn't want to lose $10k on the RS 6, but you already lost $7k on it, and will likely lose $20-30+k in the first year of ownership on this car. Sense no make.

Do they have the 3.0 supercharged? I thought about stopping by the local dealer and smacking them up side the face for not telling me about the 3.0t in the A6 avant. But if the material is crappy then forget it. The 19" sport package would look nice on the A6 avant as it lowers the vehicle and stiffens the suspension. But if the car is a dog on power....there is no use.

And yes, you are very correct about finding a low mileage 03 S6 avant. Its impossible....driving me crazy.

There are 2 A6 avants on the entire west coast of America. What in the world are these people thinking? The last time I stopped into the Audi dealer and told them I wanted a sports avant...they told me to wait for the S4 avant to "see" if AoA brings it next year. Nobody said anything about the A6 avant with sports package. Its not a bad looking car with the 19" wheels and 255 tires.

I mean really, I drive in with my RS6 not some Kia Rio or something. :doh: Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Not that I can give you any kind of insider info', but Avants/SWs aren't that much popular in the US, as you can see... BMW want even offer next gen' 5 series (F10) in Touring (SW) version on the US market... Audi is probably taking the same course.

Don't forget that you are talking about C5 RS 6, while even C6 RS 6 is at the end of its life cycle! E 63 AMG is logical choice at this moment, if you want to buy fast sedan...

Given the choices we have in vehicles. If we needed to replace the RS6....I would opt for a 1-2yr old S8 and offer low till I found one.

Its a larger sedan that I have no needs for.....its the avant performance platform we need/want. Now what?

Its back to my buildup of a S6 avant or Allroad with mods.

The financial stress was specifically because 35-40% of my yearly income is an "end of the year" bonus - paid out on March 1.

After i was terminated, i was told that i needed to be in "good standing" with the company to receive the bonus - and therefore i would not be getting anything. THAT is why i decided that the RS6 needed to go.

Now that i am back on track with $$.. i started thinking about the car situation. Pay $12,000 out of pocket to get my RS6 back? Well, the car was shifting hard and missing gears again. I already got one transmission replaced through CPO - and knowing that my CPO was expired.. playing the Transmission Replacement game with US Direct was a gamble based on all the mods i had. Also - the suspension was making very harsh noises - and after two visits - Champion Audi still couldn't figure out what was making the noise.

I felt it was time for something new. I loved the RS6 to death - but for me, it was time.

As far as the E63 - your opinions are as valid as my own - and i respect them. Bruce, Brazil - I personally like the new E63. I like the interior. If you don't, that's ok.. just don't buy one.

I should have the exhaust done on the merc within a month. I will post a video when it is complete. Based on how the car sounds stock - it should be pretty nasty when it's done.

Thanks for the comments - good and bad. Again, i respect all of your opinions.

OH - BTW, RXBG was right - i did not pay MSRP for the E63 - they were very flexible on price.

Nice job dealing with the matter all around. I cant say I would do the same thing(because I liked your car too much and no way would my wife let me have the next new car) so its no brainer for me with a gun pointed to my head.

You have given lots of information to the forum and your vids were a pleasure to watch.

That bonus situation is a real one and one not all companies would honor. You are very lucky indeed.

Enjoy the new ride its fun to have a new car. And buy your lady a new pair of red shoes then have her pose on the E63 for a better picture. :-)

"little Bailey" is going to grow up to be big Bailey very soon. I was thinking the new S4 avant was larger inside and out and the supercharged 3.0 has some good reviews. That was before looking at the 2010 A6 avant. If the 3.0t has the grunt...that car looks like a little brother to the RS6 avant...esp with the 19" sport suspension option.

Can tow a full car trailer, quiet as a library, legitimate off-road chops, but you can take it to a wedding or whatever. Interior that makes anything else look like it came from wal-mart. Not that poseur "sport", the big guy, the HSE that was engineered by BMW and has the vehicle dynamics and center of gravity to go with it. And the supercharged is pretty quick.

Ours has been as reliable as a honda accord and my 70lb dog loves the thing. My only regret is buying it new and the eating the absurd depreciation.

Also what about Cayenne Turbo? Hilariously fun to drive. Also available for half price after a few years.

Was a bigger difference than the RS. WHAT A BLAST!
The Allroad is cool too. A6 with beefy flairs and suspension that goes up and down.

It does help a ton. I wondered what the 2.7tt would be like with a few mods. The C5 size is perfect for our needs and she likes the RS6 already. There are a couple of nice looking Allroads in CA for sale. Keep an eye out for me.

Took it from 250 hp to 350 hp and I think the torque went up a hundred also.

There's a hack you can do with the vagcom to change the suspension heights. This might just be on the lowest setting.

The C6 A6 Avant 3.0T is a sweet ride. The interior is light-years ahead of the C5, with the possible exception of the material surrounding the instruments. The chassis is in another league altogether - much stiffer/more solid structure, more stable, better-resolved ride/handling balance.

The 3.0T engine is mechanically the same as in the B8 S4, AFAIK, and those are making 400+ HP with an MTM Cantronic system added on.

Add the Sport package (with either 18" or 19" wheels), and the C6 Avant looks awesome, IMO, and it would outrun the C5 S6 in most instances.

All of that said, it's never going to have the power of an E55, and of course it will never be able to smoke its tires for a block or two - instead it will just GO! ;-)

I was just posting the pics for the style and stance. I dont know if the owner performed the 402 mod or if they put coilovers on the AR. Yes, its Highland Green but they did a good job with it. I like it.

I think the AR is an option for us if I cant find a nice S6 avant.

And yes, ZCD...the 19" sport package is a must. The funny thing is this....Audi has 2 C6 avants in the entire western US region. That fact alone has me depressed. Who is the idiot market manager with that plan. The sales staff at the local Audi dealership have been a complete failure. Another bunch of idiots. How in the world is Audi going to take market share with these idiots at the wheel?

At the price of a clean low mileage AR...~18k + 2500 for a powertrain only ext warranty. I have 21000 into the ordeal. Add 3500 for wheels/tires and chip tune and your sitting less than 25k.

and BTW - i couldn't wait.. the exhaust is getting done tomorrow. Replacing cats with high flow racing cats. Removing main resonator and secondary resonators and replacing with straight pipes. (You should see the main resonator on the E63 - it's HUGE). Keeping the AMG mufflers for now - no other aftermarket mufflers fit the placement of the AMG.

As usual, will post clip as soon as the car comes home (tomorrow night).

Pay $12,000 out of pocket to get my RS6 back? Well, the car was shifting hard and missing gears again. I already got one transmission replaced through CPO - and knowing that my CPO was expired.. playing the Transmission Replacement game with US Direct was a gamble based on all the mods i had. Also - the suspension was making very harsh noises - and after two visits - Champion Audi still couldn't figure out what was making the noise.



I agree 100%, why go back an Pay for Trouble? If nothing else you got out of a potential bottomless pit of repair bills. But the idea of jumping back into a big ticket car bill was strange after your near miss. But from what you are posting it sounds like the money is there and your passion about cars is strong, so ENJOY!!

Did you know Mercedes is getting rid of that 6.2L V8? They are replacing it with the 5.5L V8 Supercharged because offf idk.. but funny thing was the older 2006 E55 was slightly faster than the 2008 E63 AMG, I dont know the story about the new E63. I've heard from MotorTrend doing a 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds. Still the awesome luxury of a Mercedes and excellent build quality makes it 9.9 outta 10

Um, well... I can DEFINITELY tell you that summer is in the air!
I almost stopped and informed this co-ed that she was, um, hanging out for all to see.... but I just enjoyed the view!

haven't noticed any thongs indiscriminately lost from their owner lately, but it is rather funny that it DOES happen...

status update on the AMG???

I have enough pics to do "Picture Friday" all the way through 2010.

The full exhaust was done on the AMG.. and now i did some tweaking on the intake through USP. The E63 has 4 air filters (two on each side) really restricting airflow. After some tests, we removed one filter from each side, then replaced the remaining with ITG filters. Air flow is drastically improved. Threw it back on the dyno, and after full exhaust and intake, car is pulling 439 rwhp.. which is surprising because that puts it at about 550 bhp give or take.. and the car comes with 518-520 stock. The tech says they vary in hp a bit because they are all hand built.. but who knows.

So far, not much racing. Beat the pants off of Ben with his 08 M5 4 times.. i don't think he will give up any time soon though.

Still miss the :addict: of course - i'm still an audi man

Dude, take a chill pill. I never said nor implied his girl is not good looking, quite the contrary. I said that reading the COMMENTS of everyone, on Thursdays (and Fridays especially), ones here are over the top with anticipation, I mean, practically counting the moments till the next "dose". And my wife is plenty attractive. I simply do not need to prove it to ones here just so they can do unmentionables with her pics. There are plenty of members here who have met my spouse in person.
