I'm guessing it's a water cooled intercooler. And it's a proper system, so no boat engine turbines hanging off the back bumper of a stock motor like those American hobbiests.

800+ hp IMHO.

With 800hp, if they keep a stock look, none of that PPI Razor R8 crazyness, it will scare the living daylights of other supercar drivers in a race. :D

you'll probably have to buy 2 bags of ice to throw on top of the engine each time you drive it.

My little finger can tell you this is not true....

I'm not so sure about that. MTM has done some great work before, just hope this is another one. :D

Hmm... Is that 5.0L V10? Intake system looks like the one from RS6 5.0L V10 biturbo?

Interesting, I might think you're right!

Could be. No reason why it could not be used on the R8's 5.2L. Main difference here is MTM is using a single large charge air cooler, whereas on the RS6's 5.0L V10, it uses two separate intercoolers, ala the Porsche 993TT versus the 996/7TT's.

ItŽs def the RS6-engine. With some mods it would produce honest +1000hp. Thing is the gearbox and not the least the cooling.

I'm very interested to see how they solved the cooling issue, and of course, if it's reliable enough for someone to consider putting it into his/hers regular R8.

How in the hell have MTM solve the driveshaft issue with the RS6 engine.

The air is collected in one manifold anyway. The reason for two intercoolers is to keep it away from the radiator. FMICs are not very effecient. I remember HGP build a VR6 BiTurbo with a FMIC at a customers request, and the car kept overheating when a magazine tested it on a track.

It's probably a water cooled intercooler. It wouldn't be painted if it wasn't.

The second photograph shows airducts running from the sideblade.
