Hello All and Seasons Greetings!
About a week ago, I noticed that I lost the outside temp indication and the separation line on the dash. A few days ago I noticed all indications are gone, except for the trans position letters. I know it still works because it "lights up" when I open the door, trunk, etc. Any ideas about what's happening?
Thanks in advance.

(PS: I don't have a defective sensor, just need to replace the wiring:))

Have you tried the reset button (bottom part of wiper control)?- this toggles it between

1) Outside temp/trip computer/auto check control
2) Display navigation
3) Display off

I'll second that. That really got me at first when I picked mine up since my VW toggles between two different trip computers with the same control. I kind off wish the RS6 had that capability.

When I start mine, it always comes up with the full display on the DIS and I have to toggle if I want to get rid of it. It's weird that snoopra's comes up blank when he starts the car.

What's the "Brake" light for? Emergency brake? I don't have this light on mine.

Yes, that info comes up when the E-brake is on.

OK, it was the reset button. Trip/mile counter is back on but still no outside temp showing. I'll check the coding since I was fiddling with the RNS-E about the same time I lost the temp indicator:doh:

Thanks to all. What would I do without you guys?:applause:

Temp display is a Vagcom Module coding so if you were messing with Vagcom then that is probably your problem.

I tried locating the temp display in "17-instruments" but couldn't anything out of order. Any suggestions?

It could be in the coding. What coding have you got?

Instruments coding is 03284

Thread jack- Can anyone tell me what I need to code to have the Nav information show up in the display? I did not have navigation originally and installed the RNS-E after the fact. Yes- I should probably search but I'm being fat and lazy.

TIA

Snoopr I think your coding is correct and you are in the right area but go back to Instruments, then Adaption, then check channel 19. Mine is coded 30010. If you are using Vagcom 809 it will tell you your choices but if not E-mail me and I will send you a Print Screen image showing the choices, I tried to attach them but they have to be shrunk so small (148Kb) that they are illegible. hahnmgh@yahoo.com

I told you it was the reset button 2 or 3 days ago.

Max RS6, almost the same as Snoopra but try Channel 62 and change it to 5 (it probably is a 1 in N.America). To each his own but I tried 5 and went back to a 1 as it was annoying while in Nav mode to loose the other items in the instrument display. I figured she is already talking to me and I can glance at the RNS-E display. Give it a try but you may want to change it back after a while, plus, when the car starts the screen defaults to the Nav screen in the cluster and is blank when not in Navigation mode so when you start the car you need to use the scroll button on the end of the wiper stalk to display MPG or whatever you want to see when not Navigating to a destination.

as is. I like the other info in the display by default and don't want the Nav info defaulting to the screen. Thanks for the info so I don't waste my time changing it to have that result.

This forum and you guys are great. The wealth of knowledge helps all of us enjoy the crazy train.
