The $3k question is, do you have a warranty? That'll tell you how "lucky" you are!:)

Sorry to hear about the trouble...

What transmission symptoms if any do you have?

None really I was on the highway going 70-75 and the light came on so I went down to 65 got home ran vagcom. I'll take it out tomorrow and see what happens. How long do I have before a total failure?

It will not leave you stranded. Just dont run the car hard and your fine.

See my other thread about how to diagnose the TC failure.

Just get it up to 5th gear and try to engauge the TC clutch by shifting back and forth between 4th and 5th. You will hear/feel the TC clutch engauge and the rpm drop about 200rpms.

I wouldn't clear the code though. You want to guarantee those codes are still there when you take the car to the dealer for your new shining tranny & TQ.

I agree with hahnmgh63. Clearing the code would be bad for the warranty claim. I would avoid any hwy driving if possible. Open TC on the hwy will burn up the fluid in minutes.

Drove over 300 miles yesteday and no issues at all just low power might be from the cel, tranny is shifting as it should did the 4th and 5th gear test it worked. I'm taking in in on Monday will they replace the tranny or the TC?

Most likely they will replace the TC only.

Look under the car at the transmission pan. Are there any leaks at all around the pan? If so, you can say "I want the trans pan leak fixed too" That will mean that the dealer will drop the pan and replace the gasket. (you get a full fluid flush that way) normally you will get charged 400 bucks.

If the above works out then just offer to pay for a trans filter and have them put it in while everything is off. :hahahehe:

Now, if there is no leak from the transmission pan. You need to push Fidelity to inspect the transmission fluid to "make sure that no TC clutch material has ended up in the pan" This is very important. The design of the TC clutch when it goes bad and slips will send clutch material thru the transmission and end up in the pan. The job is not complete with just changing the TC. The dealer must inspect the pan and clean out any debris. This is how you get your trans fluid completely flushed. As it should be when changing the TC.
