I get 21mpg on our trips up north which are a combination of 70% at 65 and 30% at 55mph speed limits (more like 74 and 64mph with some passing blasts to 85 or so). The mpg drops to 18 when citiy driving is in the mix. My car is stock with 93 Octane 10% Ethanol mix typically sold in Wisconsin.

Why, what's the deal? Gas is cheap right now...

They were rated at 15/22 when new and I never had a problem meeting, and usually exceeding, the ratings with any car - except for this one. The revised (2008) ratings for our car is 14/20, and this is exactly what I get.

Funny :) :harass: :hihi: :jlol: :lovl:

UK price for "super unleaded" is around 1.15 GBP a Litre so around 8.30 USD a Gallon .. LOL

There again I never got the RS6 for fuel economy :addict:

I get around 17.2 mpg (thats a UK gallon)

Damn, that's 3x the $2.79 around Madison, WI (http://gasprices.mapquest.com/searchresults.jsp?search=true&latitude=42.978696&longitude=-89.399655&gasPriceType=5&address=5188+Old+Indian+Trail&city=fitchburg&stateProvince=wi&postalCode=53711&radius=10&brand=&sortOrder=2) . I forget how international RS6.com is. Yes, gas is cheap in the US. I think its our wide-open spaces (costs $$$ to get everywhere), perceived need for automotive freedom (we think we need cars to get around, but we really don't travel all that far anyway), and taxation (gas taxes do not pay for all our roads and highways).

I assume higher fuel prices elsewhere are to curb driving and to pay for better roads than we have in the US. Plus, it must be more expensive to build roads in historically sensitive old cities than for us just to bulldoze and pave.

Anyway, back to this thread - SonicAR: why a concern for MPG. Is your car gulping gas making you think something is wrong?

You have a 6 and worry about MPG!

I use Super unleaded (97 Octone min) 90% of the time and can get 18mg around town and on a good run with the Econ button on get 27.5 MPG :-).

If it's cooler outside than in, Hit the button it make a whole load of difference. Turns off Humidifier and compressor.

Does it make that much difference having the a/c on?? Wow, must try turning mine off and opening a window!
