Removing the ashtray.. anyone know how?

Help... i need to take the drivers ashtray / cig lighter out - eBahn is not helping // anyone done this before. Any advice??
Right now i'm at the point where i take the side pannels off from the center console and dig in from there. My audio guy thinks its a friction fit and the unit will come out with the right force - i have my doubts.

found an old post on line - a6 Ashtray removal.. had pics. Looks like i need to pull the radio then unbolt the next pannel and finally unclip the ashtray.
I'll pull the radio Mon and post pics of the ashtray take out later in the week. If you never use it , its a great place for a switch panel.

Yes, ELSAWIN says remove radio, then A/C controls, then press top retaining tabs on both sides and THEN remove tray(kinda silly to design it this way). Trying by "force" will break it.
