What diagnostic tools do you recommend?

What do you think the best diagnostic tool (OBD) is?

I think some scan tools using PC are reasonable, but standalone diagnostic tools may be handy.

Most of "us" use the Ross-Tech VCDS (AKA/FKA: VAG-COM) usb scan tool. Has lots of cool features!
