Just LOL'd a bit when I realised that there is a camera guy in the GTR as well. So you're looking at ~2 ton out-running a Hayabusa!

Another company is up to 778awhp.

An update on our R35 GTR. We have completed tuning our GTR with Haltech’s new firmware update using Q16 fuel. Boost level at 1.6 bar, we’ve achieved 778 whp.

We would like to thank the guys from Haltech (Eric, Nathan, and Jonathan) for all their support.

I know this car and this driver
The car is VERY fast
It was faster than latest Koenigsegg CCX... and than Hayabusa
0-300 in 24 secs... it's not far from Veyron time...
the acceleration is amazing - I was in this car for several times

If these cars hold up with this kind of power, well... It might be a good car after all. ;);)

Insane!

It's raining too :D

I was on arrival, in the sky a cloudlet, and road dry on 100 % on glasses only fallen asleep drops from last rains.

Roads to Russia do not wash with shampoo.

I think he's saying that it was raining on the way there. The roads were dry and the drops were only on the windows.

For a second I thought he was reciting Wordsworth - "I wondered lonely as a cloud."

A Veyron should walk it, would be very interesting to see.

The one Evo tested took 28.6s to reach 200mph and 23s to reach 190mph and 19.1s to reach 180mph.

http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/cargrouptests/238672/nissan_gtr_v_bugatti_veyron.html

I hate to say it but I think the manufacturer's claims of 0-300kph (186mph) in 16.7s are optimistic. Customer Veyrons simply aren't that fast.

The Switzer P800 has nearly 850hp crank based on wheel figures and 15% loss. The Veyron was 2022kg when Evo weighed it vs 1738kg for the GTR, so the power-weight of the Veyron and P800 are virtually identical and they both have way more than enough power to comfortably make 200mph and both have dual clutch. I doubt there'd be that much difference in acceleration until after the P800 tops out.

The Veyron power curve is also more peaky. The P800 is near peak power from 5000-7000rpm.

When the Veyron first came on the scene, the rumour was you could start a McLaren F1 off at 130mph and the Veyron would still hit 200mph at the same time. How well did that theory work in the Top Gear run? It's very, very fast but it's been exaggerated. 0-200mph runs in under 20s just haven't been achieved with customer cars and it isn't there on paper looking at the power-weight either.

Watched the video and I still can't get my head around it. The Hayabusa is a legend and I honestly thought even the Veyron would have had problems with it.

To be honest a 1000cc sports bike will out-accelerate a Hayabusa although the 'busa will top-out slightly higher. I doubt the P800 would do so well against a GSXR1000. They can break 150mph in about 9s dead and will make 180mph in about 17-18s. After that acceleration tails off quite a bit though.

I wondered about what you said here and as I know very little about sports bikes I ask a co-worker and MAG rep if this was true that a GSXR would indeed be quicker. He reckons that the GSXR and Hayabusa would be even up to the 150mph mark after which the Busa would start and leave it up to the 170mph point after which the Busa would leave it for dead, this was his opinion if both bike are stock. To be honest the data from dragtimes.com back up his opinion.

Hayabusa (http://www.dragtimes.com/results.php?carmodel=1011&op1=%3E%3D&data1=&search2=et&op2=%3C%3D&data2=&stock=1&days=10000000&carmake=43&name=Search+DragTimes) vs GSXR1000 (http://www.dragtimes.com/results.php?carmodel=1011&op1=%3E%3D&data1=&search2=et&op2=%3C%3D&data2=&stock=1&days=10000000&carmake=43&name=Search+DragTimes)

P.S.
If you prove this to be wrong, no worries I just thought the Busa was the king among sports bikes.

I'm not sure, I've heard that the 1000cc bikes are faster up to 150mph. You've got be careful on dragtimes that the times you're viewing have a '#' denoting a stock vehicle. If you look at the times there's a stock GSXR750 making a 9.7.

http://www.dragtimes.com/Suzuki-GSX-R-Timeslip-11769.html (http://www.dragtimes.com/results.php?carmodel=1011&op1=%3E%3D&data1=&search2=et&op2=%3C%3D&data2=&stock=1&days=10000000&carmake=43&name=Search+DragTimes)

This stock Hayabusa makes a 9.8@145
[url]http://www.dragtimes.com/Suzuki-Hayabusa-Timeslip-4196.html

This stock GSXR1000 makes a 9.9 but @148
http://www.dragtimes.com/Suzuki-GSX-R-Timeslip-14046.html

They're the fastest two. It's a shame there's no 1/8 mile time on these slips because if you look at some of other slips where there is, you see that in the GSXR1000 finishes the first 1/8th at a higher speed and accelerates better in the last 1/8th.

Launching a bike is even trickier than launching a car and if you're not amazingly good at keeping the front down, the bike with the better torque allows better acceleration after a timidish launch.

Once up to speed though, look at these stats:

http://www.suzukicycles.org/2000-2009/2008a.shtml

The 2008 Hayabusa has 194bhp and weighs 215kg. The GSXR1000 has 185bhp and weighs 166kg. Add 100kg for rider and fuel and the PWRs work out as follows:

Hayabusa - 616bhp/ton
GSXR1000 - 695bhp/ton + smaller bike, less drag.

The 2009 GSXR1000 has 191bhp and weighs 167kg.

The straightline performance of these things from a roll is crazy. I had a baby 2005 ZX636R (636cc) and IIRC, in 4th gear that would accelerate from 30-125mph faster than a 4.2 RS4 going through the gears and run a high 10s quarter. With a good rider either of these bikes would lead the car up to maybe 170-180mph, which figures since they can both run 9s and the P800 can't.... yet.
