The RS6 is still using 505.01 right?

Where are you guys buying it from? Must I still get it from the dealer? $12.50 a quart now!!!

Can I use Mobil 1 or another brand as long as it's 505.01?

505.01 = 5w40 right?

I use the AMSOIL 505.01 and have no problems with it. I get it for $6.75 per liter so its not too terribly expensive.

Will using a different brand be okay with the dealer (warranty) as long as it's 505.01?

Do you get it via mail order? Where?

ya, as long as it's within spec, you can use any brand of oil. This guy seems to claim he can beat AMSOIL's online price: http://www.syntheticwarehouse.com/buy_products.htm

505.01 is 5W40 alright but make sure the 5W40 you use will SPELL OUT on the bottle/can that the oil meets VW 505.01 specifications - by far not all 5W40 oils meet the specs... :deal:

and given the current BO's economic success and US dollar drop the price of the 505.01 Castrol in this area is approx. $42 per 1 (ONE) liter, including 19% tax. Oil change for oil and filter (excluding labor) is little over $400... :vgrumpy:

I use the Lubro Moly diesel high tech. I buy it through ECS tuning and have it shipped.

I also use AMSOIL or get Castrol 505.01 (OEM) from ebay when I see a deal:) BTW, AMSOIL oil filters has the best industry ratings for oil contaminant/debris removal.

Hey,

You aint seen nothing yet. Were printing money and spending like drunken sailors. No buyers for the treasury bonds so the Fed is picking up bonds on the secondary market. Well the Fed is insolvent already and has 13 Trillion of toxic assets.

You know what happens next.

Dollar = 0

original thread? It's so annoying. Isn't there a board for that somewhere?

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/ Flate rate shipping so I buy a couple of cases or Redline at a time and you can mix & match. I use the same in the RS6 & tt. I also use Redline Motorcycle oil in my bike. Test after test it always comes out on top.
Dollar can't be worth nothing until after I take my daughter to Europe on vacation in a couple of weeks. Hitting the Porsche, Mercedes, and Audi factories as well as Oktoberfest :)

Just did my own oil change today.. bought the TXT 505.01 Castrol from the dealer (Commonwealth in So Cal) for around 8 bucks a quart x9, and 19 for the filter. Wasnt too bad and no guesswork. Took the swaybar halfway off, and badabing.

For a member with 2 posts dont you find your stance alittle strong. And when was the last time I "interject your agenda" in a thread? I was simply making light of the comment from our friend over the pond.

Sorry your alittle touchy on finance. Its reality and not directed towards any party or political stance. Its life. Move on.

Your good for 2 weeks. Have fun we were over there last year. I got our rental C class diesel over 150mph on the Autobahn. Love those roads.

DHall1 what you said was funny as a C class is exactly what I have rented too. I'm in Europe for work just about every other month so I've really looked forward to being able to share some of the things and places I've seen with my daughter. I'll see if I can beat 150mph.

Probably better than the new oil to most extent. For the first time in history the SAE standard for automobiles and Diesels degrade motor oil for the most part. Less ZDDP but slightly more Molybdenum to make up for it but most experts agree that the loss of ZDDP is not offset by Moly in the engine wear department.
