Maybe a stupid question. I have found one nice RS6 with 19 ich wheels and had 8x19 in front and 9x19:mech: in the back. I thought that when it is a 4x4 50/50 that is not a good thing.

Anybody have an idea about it?

Its the tire size that need to be the same.

However, backspace plays a large roll in fitment and proper load over the wheel bearings.

I would not vary from the factory backspace nor alter rim widths fr to rr. IMHO

Being slightly more specific, it's the tire diameter that needs to be the same. It's theoretically possible to find a higher profile but narrower tire with the same rolling diameter as a lower profile wider one. Are they actually out there? You'll have to research and see. TireRack.com has the best data on tires for this purpose.

Even if you could find them, would I do it? Nope.

ya, not the best move on an AWD car IMO.

9.5 Will fit front & rear ok. I've just fitted 9.5 x 20 on a car with no problems,

Offset is the key factor.
