A Clubsport version of the R8 V10? Why not?

This R8 was spotting doing a few laps around the track at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany. What else could that large, fixed rear wing and those little flaps at each end of the front bumper mean?

Well, it could mean a lot of things, such as a new aerodynamic package.

But let us imagine for a moment that this is a Clubsport prototype intended to put a few added touches of civilized dress around the monstrous heart that beats beneath the bonnet of the R8 V10. A Clubsport version of the R8 V10 would also shed some weight, about 100 to 150 kilograms, and rid itself of the all-wheel drive system.

Inspiration could be had from fellow VW brand Lamborghini, with its Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboa. Turning the R8 V10 into a true racer, capable of incredible aerodynamically and traction-enhanced lap times around that very Nürburgring track.

Yes, and maybe they can add some kind of snooze function to it, so that when taking the car onto the public roads the R8 doesn't fall asleep from all the boredom.

what if this is a test mule for the next R8? a production car will never have exterior slats like that.

Now way that early in the model run

1st, if any, a facelift & engine update (RS5 engine)
Than the Mk II R8. But that one is still years (3-4?) away.

may be this is the RS8 or R8 RS... with a modified V10... the extra airintakes are a detail that this V10 needs more cooling I think

i think it is the covered version of the customers LMS , the the diffusor in the rear, the rear window and as RXBG already mentioned legally, at least in Europe, front wings like this are not allowed.

AMS on the R8 prototype:

AMS is saying, that in this style a Special Edition is coming to the market to underline the sportiness of the R8. They can also imagine, that the V10 produces more power... a roadlegal R8 with just rear-wheel-drive won't come! The interior will be modified, too.

I would like this car with a ± 500 hp 2.5TFSI inline 5 engine.
It will be light and fast.

Yeah, it would surely be a very HOT (http://media.nextautos.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/1257h3-audi-r8-fire-int.jpg) car... :)

Interresting info in the current sport auto 09/2010 R8 V10 supertest.

After V8 and V10 there will be a performance version of the V10 (i guest thats the one we see in these pics)

RWD idea was dropped very quickly (in order to keep the cars balance)

-120 Kg :applause: from the basic weight confirmed - through usage of lightweight material

Very probably no "official" hp increase (in order to keep lambo happy). That could mean that the engine in fact produces the full 560 HP the Lambo has

Now imagine:

R8 V10 "Performance" AWD with 1540 Kg + 560 Hp :wo:

I don't like the rearspoiler design wise, i hope they put on something better looking, like the one on the Race Taxi.

To your knowledge has anybody shoehorned the TT V10 into the R8 or the S8 ? could this be the performance version ?

No, the heat development of the TT V10 will be a problem with the mid mounted engine design.

I'm still struggling to understand why it should be such a technical difficulty, especially when Porsche has their Turbo and GT2 models.

Big difference comparde to a midmounted engine. Sad but true.
