a friend of mine bought one in switzerland .......4500 km Gearbox gone.....and he told me that they have huge log files and by this files they could tell that he has been 2 times on a track.......but they will still change the box.....but if he is on the track again...no more garantie.........by the way 3 weeks for the gear box to be delivered makes 4 weeks in total......

So a sportscar can only have the warranty if it isn't taken to the track...That's a bit strange to me!

At least in Finland you will loose your warranty if you take ESP (or whatever it is on GTR) off. So true drivers car then :)

I was very disappointed special, for my friend he has waited so long for the car and it is a great all-rounder, good price and value.....but the Sales Strategics .....pushing the car as the ultimate track car and then, giving the poor guy a hard time and telling him, after reading the log files , no more track otherwise Garantie GOOD BYE....just not fair, and be honest....the Nordschleife is not really a race track it is a one directions ultra fast country road......i don't understand the Nissan boys......

Unlike Nissan, Porsche stand behind their products. :)

Audi does as well, they knew that I went several times on the track and never ever complained when I had problem.....this is the reason why I went in first for the R8V8 and now for the V10 and all the other cars are audis as well...........ok, except for the SMART

infront but not working........or not being allowed to use it the way they have promoted the car.......i rather have a more prestigious product and a little slower.....most of us are not even able to drive the ring below 8 min why do we care anyway

A shame then you can't even put r tires on a Boxster, Cayman or a normal 911 without the warranty going out the door. :burnout:

This is true in the UK as well and probably the rest of the world. In fact I would go further than that, if you own a Porsche of any sort and don't fit Porsche spec rubber the warranty is void.

Ugh, didin't know that, sounds stupid. Luckily that is quite hard to proof :)

How could that be controlled by porsche? It's not the biggest problem changing tires before going to the repair shop....

I agree with you but it is a fact, even if you take your car in to get an extented warranty they (the dealer) check the car out and one of the checks is the spec of tyre on the car. If the tyres are wrong then you either replace them with what Porsche recommend or you don't get the cover.

seems to be different in switzerland where the cayman GTS is delivered with semi slicks and well as the GT3 Gt2 and I i can order a roll bar for my turbo and GT Race buckets.......I have a friend driving Pirelli Corsa on his 997 TT no warranty issues at all.

The GT3, Turbo and GT2 have a different engine than the Carreras/Boxsters/Caymans and can handle the increased g forces.

I would say this is the same thing in Finland. Few of my friends use allday long semislicks and haven't heard any problems.

My understanding on it as far as the UK is that the car has to wear the right spec rubber that is offered as either an option or standard. In the likes of a 997GT3 that means Michelin Pilot Sport CUP+, on a Cayman, Boxster, normal 997 or Cayenne this spec of rubber will be different, I do know that other tyre manufacturers make rubber to this same spec as the rest of the range but I'm unsure as to whether any other manufacturer makes the equivalent to a CUP+.

If the answer is no to the CUP+ then I would conclude that your warranty would indeed be void. Point being that when changing your rubber you have to always make sure that the rubber replacing is of this spec.
