I am thinking about byuing a 1997 S6 2,2 quattro .

But have problems deciding what transmission to choose ?
do anyone of you have some eksperience whit bouth of them ?

Get the manual. When you purchase the car, you will enjoy the 5 speed, and the power will be enough for you. But after a short time, you will want to modify that sucker to play with the big boys, and the auto tranny won't handle all that torque very well over the long haul. Just an ECU tweak will get you to ~280hp/ps,
with over 320lb/ft of torque. Plus it's a really nice transmission in the later models(95.5>). The early models suffered from a weak first gear. But buying a '97 will almost assure you that you will have little peoblem in that arena, as long as the previous owner took good care of the vehicle. Fun cars... Gotta love those AAN and 3B powerplants. They're addictive(I have 2).
