I won't say where this was taken, but suffice to say it's long, straight and was totally empty at 1:45am...

There is a hill that I reached shortly after I flicked the full-beams on, you can probably see the drop in acceleration.

The vid is 2.2Mb, so please be kind to my server. To potentially save you some bandwidth of your own, here's a grab zoomed in by two - moving dials is all you're going to see (but the soundtrack is great!), so don't shout at me if you spend ages downloading this only to find it boring!

I can't wipe the smirk from my face. Nice work, by the way. I love the sound. I've got to ask, however, how did you mount the video camera? Did you just drive straight and hold it between the speedo and the wheel?

Nice and fast. Good job 'The Brit'!

Next time bring a friend, so we can get a more stable movie. Otherwise, great job. Can't wait to see other movies.

You guessed! :D It's a little Sony DSC-P5 stills camera with MPEG record, very small and easy to hold with one hand.

I'll add, if you're viewing at 1024x768 or higher, zooming in 200% can help with viewing detail. Each mark on the speedo is 20mph, for those of you only familiar with the split scale speedos.

Steve's nearest on the 0-200km/h speed I think. Good running weather - nice clear, dry, cold air (10-11 centigrade).

Thanks Chris, nice post/video.

14.5 seconds 0-200 km/h? Wow that's very fast, about 3 seconds faster than most of the test reports I have read, but then their RS6's must have had a lot less mileage than yours.

I was a good boy and stuck to break-in procedures, and I always let the oil warm up properly before it goes over ~3200 rpm. I bet press cars get a hard life from the start.

I've got over 18.5k on the clock now, and it does seem to run better now than it did when it was new, although perhaps I'm just getting better at driving it! :D

As I said previously, it was excellent weather for a run - tyres warmed up on a 30 mile blast so I had good grip, dry road and cool night air. I had been cruising steadily at ~90mph for 4/5 minutes before the run to bring the intercooler temps down in the cool air without dumping extra turbo heat into them.

I'm not sure if the aircon compressor went off on the kickdown switch or not (not entirely sure I hit the kickdown properly), but that does make a difference to a timed run, so I may have done.

I doubt I'd get a run that good every time. Why is it that you can never get performance that when some errant BMW needs showing a thing or two? :p
