Hi!

Does anyone know if these cars have the "same" gearbox?

Thanks in advance

Not that I'm aware of. RS6 had a larger bell housing to fit a larger torque convertor if I'm not mistaken.

Ok, so the real question should be: How is the build quality on a 2006 referring to the failing RS6 gearboxes?

The RS6 has a special gearbox. Get the Audi RS6 study guide and look at the gearbox section. They explain what they did to strengthen the box.

I don't understand your question. 2006 what?

It is a version of the same ZF gearbox, a 5HP24 but as mentioned, the RS6 gearbox and Tourqe Converter have been strengthened, probably not enough, but they are definitely heavier duty pieces than the version in the 2.7T A6.

The tranny came from the A8-W12, the only other motor at the time with a similar torque rating.

No I'm pretty sure the 2.7 TDi uses a 6 speed I believe to be a 6HP32...

The RS6 uses a modified 5HP24 with larger torque converter and larger bell housing rumored to be the same transmission as the European W12 A8.

I wonder why Audi didn't use the transmission from the Touareg V10, with 500 Ft/lbs of torque that transmission had to hold up against alot of power.
