They gave the GTR a 200 yard headstart and...

In the twisting hills of Wales the Veyron was only matching the GTR not catching it!

I'm not that surprised. This one type of roads that the GTR is one damn hard car to match. That gearbox, powerange and AWD system ads up to impressive performance. They Veyron carries to much weight... Give it a long enough straight though... :revs:

the one I just saw shows the veyron making the gtr look like a rabbit diesel

What Ruergard is referring to is the article which had both cars following each other on the back roads with the GTR in front. This is the area where the Veyron wasn't designed for and was less happy but is the arena where the GTR was born to be king and in this pairing it was.

The surprise for me in the article was that the Veyron prove to be much harder and less comfortable compared to the already less than complacent GTR.

0-30: 1.4 vs 1.8
0-40: 1.9 vs 2.4
0-50: 2.3 vs 3.1
0-60: 2.8 vs 3.9
0-70: 3.4 vs 4.8
0-80: 4.1 vs 5.9
0-90: 4.9 vs 7.1
0-100: 5.8 vs 8.4
0-110: 6.7 vs 10.0
0-120: 7.9 vs 11.7
0-130: 9.1 vs 14.2
0-140: 10.5 vs 17.2
0-150: 12.0 vs 20.6
0-160: 13.9 vs 25.3
0-170: 16.2 vs 32.8
0-180: 19.1
0-190: 23.0
0-200: 28.6

I believe both sets of times were slow compared to other reviews so maybe wind conditions were less favourable can could have been.
