Dear friends,
I have RS6 2003 Saloon Misano Red (Stock)
I would like to ask you, what's the channel code to disable the speed limit of 250Km/h.
I managed to know how to unlock the DVD navigation;
Channel 068: Ejection Lock
0 = Eject Button Active
1 = Eject Button Inactive (Anti-Theft)
It seems that dealer tend to forget to unlock the DVD NAV.

But what's the channel code to disable the speed limit.
Regards,
Joe :addict:

that's a great question! I did no know you could recode that particular item with VAG COM.

So I'll be waiting to hear the answer to that question.
I don't think my car has any limiter setting, I have had it up to 163.

Pretty sure that is only available through the ECU, someone correct me if wrong. Otherwise, we'd be able to do our tuning through VAG-COM. Now wouldn't that be sweet?

I'm pretty sure you can't change that without flashing the ECU.

You cant do that via vag-com, you need to reflash the ECU. It also doesnt read the speed from GPS but rather calculates it by gear and rpm levels.
Most RS models do limit at 270km/h. If you order the 280km/h option you will likely be able to reach 295km/h. These are values seen on the speedo (not GPS!).

Alot of tuners offer a de-limited ECU and still keep everything else stock. So its upto you to either just de-limit or rather also get some more hp. Either way you need to deinstall both ECU and TCU.

The TCU? To reflash the ECU - you sure about that?

well if you just want it delimited the ECU alone might be enough.
if you are going to add some hp you will likely want to flash the TCU too for better power distribution. atleast thats what wetterauer did on the C5. the 3rd gear had alot more juice than stock.

Thanks for all the infos, but this is not what I'm searching for!
Even though between brackets, adding more HP (what's the benefit);
Instead of doing it in +- 21 you will do it +- 17 but it will still be limited to 250~270Km/h...

TCU must be removed as a new chip needs to be installed but most tuners can reflash the ECU through the OBDII port.

So what magical software is it that the tuners have that allows them to reflash the ECU from the OBD port?

Flashing the ECU through the OBDII port is pretty much the standard nowadays. I had mine flashed by Revo and my tt flashed by APR all through the OBDII port. My RS6 TCU was modded by hoppen motorsports with MTM but I had to send the TCU to them and have the chip changed as you can't do the TCU through the OBDII port.

I understand it's the norm, the question is, what do the tuners have that we don't with the standard VAG-COM software? I know we can log timing and boost, but what do they have that lets them change it?

As prevalent as it seems to be, can't imagine it's anything you get from Audi (legally). Did someone crack the code and it's just getting "napster'd" from tuner to tuner?

ODBC II, while not open source is an open API. You're simply going through the port to upload the code. VAG-COM is essentially one aspect of what you're trying to do.

Put it another way, ODBC II is kind of like an USB port on your computer. It's simply the interface over which your car's ECU communicates with a computer.
