Hello guys, I need new set of tires for my S5. What do you recomend me. I have Bridgestone Potenza RE050A on the car, but I'm not satisfied with them.

I'm choosing between:

255/35/19

- Continental SportContact 3
- Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
- Pirelli PZero
- Pirelli PZero Rosso

I'm looking for best performance tires.

Best Regards

Of those choices, the PS2 and the P Zero are your best bets.

Dunlops on mine and I too wouldn't rate them that great. Was told by someone in the know that it's great with PS2s.

Also Contis wear really badly on aftermarket spec versions, my old B6 S4 when through 4 sets in 2 1/2 yrs, might have been my forum handle to blame but I doubt it. Thanks the lord that I had cover which covered everything from wipers to brake pads to rubber, all for the same price as a normal 1.6L A4. :jlol:

I have run these three on my departed RS4: Pirelli P Zero, Conti SP3 and, finally, Michelin PS2. Of these, PS2 were the best (least understeer and wear), P Zero was runner up (more quiet) and Conti SP3 were the worst. I also have mixed 19" PS2:s on my M3 Coupe and they are nice, but it is not very relevant for the S5. However, for S5, Sport Auto tested the exact same car on HH with two 19" tyres: with Dunlop Sportmaxx 255/35/19 it clocked 1.18.8 min whereas with corresponding Michelin PS2 it got 1.17.2 min. They said Michelins understeered less. I would try the Michelins.

Guys, thanks for that.

I'm searching on the site for tires and I see alot of different PS2's.

- Pilot Sport PS2

- Pilot Sport PS2 RO1

- Pilot Sport PS2 *

- Pilot Sport PS2 MO

- Pilot Sport PS2 N0

What is difference between those tires, because prices are not the same...

Usually these numbers refer to a spec for a certain manufacturer like Porsche or Ferrari etc. I don't know which is which but when my friend returns from Florida who happens to own a tyre repair shop I could ask the question if you like. :thumb:

Dear LittleDevil,

the R01 spec is a specific version made for the Audi RS6. Stiffer side walls and higher load capacity. MO is Mercedes-, NO is Porsche spec. * could be a specific version for the old RS6. You are good with either regular or R01.

Thanks for that Q, it saved me asking the question and giving him the answer next week. :thumb:

* is for BMW, so it might not be ideal for the S5.

(1- Spécifications Appellations : Repère spécifique constructeur
* Repère spécifique constructeur pour les véhicules du groupe BMW)

Thanks Qisha and QuattroFun for those informations.

I will try to find PS2 without anything on the end.

Do you know if there is any test between PS2 and PZero.

Anyone know what is difference between:

-Pirelli PZero
-Pirelli PZero Rosso

It is a bit old thread but anyway. Moderator can change from Which Tires for S5 ----> Best Summer Tires

I didn't find any tests of lastest relased tires.

What do you think which one is the best for everyday use dry/wet and performance:

- Bridgestone Potenza S001

- Michelin Pilot Sport 3

- Continental Sport Contact 3

- Pirelli PZero

-....etc etc

Kind Regards

I've got the pzero's and they are great comparing with conti sportcontact2. Less understeer, more exciting!
