Is it my imagination, or is Fifth Gear slowly but surely beginning to eclipse Top Gear?
I guess they're trying to do two different things. Top Gear uses cars as basis of general entertainment whereas Fifth Gear seems more squarely aimed at petrolheads.
As much as I like Top Gear's forays into the realms of the ridiculous, i'd like to see more substance with greater coverage and down to earth reviews of everyday models. It was the team's excellent knowledge of cars and innate good judgement that originally propelled them towards superstardom, but now i can't help feeling that their desire to outdo themselves in their quest for raw entertainment increasingly ends up in irrelevant cliche.
