This is the most recent RS5 test mule and based on info this one have a 3.0TFSI V6 supercharged engine under the bonnet like the one seen in the Q5 custom concept.

Its look very good, but I will be disappointed without V8 sound in RS5.... Even in S4 this engine is too quiet...

intriguing. what if audi made a last minute change and removed the updated RS4 engine??????? this would lower the price, improve emissions, save weight, and remove GG TAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it would still leave the V8 R8 intact marketwise....

Regardless of what engine they put in, it will never be near the performance of a Nissan GT-R.

You have right about that, but I expect more from RS5.... Maybe I expect to much??!!...

I expect not that much from the RS5, it will be nothing more then a to heavy Grant tourismo.

It should be faster then M3 on track or straight...
We all were expecting V8 TT.....all test mules show us V8 HDZ...now this V6 3.0 TFSI.... doesn't seems right.

The V6 3.0TFSI Supercharged is a much better engine then the V8 IMHO.
A RS5 with V8 i will never buy.

if the rs5 does get a engine similar to the Q5 concept, any estimates on how many more bhp can be Reliably extracted from this 3.0 TFSI 3.0 V6, from Stage 2 tuning only?

I demanding 20% more, around 500 bhp! :incar:

Is there any chance it could be a 4.0 TFSi engine? That would be big enough to give over 500bhp. I just cant see the RS5 with any more than around 450bhp though. However, I dont know what to believe anymore.

At first I thought V8TT, then V8 NA, and now this...

Dear Friends,

you are thinking too much. This time around the cake is eaten.

I am a new memeber, currently enjoying a S6 V10 Avant, but want to change into a sportier car soon. The RS5 is on my list, but a NA V8 is not desirable as it represents old tech. A new downsized V8 TT or a V6 TFSI, however, seems very interesting from my perspective. I am still crossing my fingers..

Can only underline that - but Qisha, you know our gang...

It is a dejavu - everytime a new high performance R(S) Audi is on the horizon, we debate the engine matter to death.

And everytime we "know" that Audi made the wrong decision - only to find out that the finished product matches - if not exceeds the expectations (RS4 B7, RS6 C6, R8, TT RS).

Boys, a reworked 4.2 it is (~450HP) - and it won't dissapoint us :rs4addict -> we need an RS5 banner

the article says 4.2 NA 470hp for RS5 (same power for next rs4)

470hp with S-Tronic would be very interesting. But I expect no more than 450hp.

Every source tells 4.2V8 with 450hp, not 470hp, unfortunatelly.

I take a S5 3.0TFSI Supercharged over RS5 with HDZ V8.
With software you can find ± 100 hp, with Pullie changes you can find a lot more power.

but you will still only have an S5 with no external distinction/ chassi upgrade... etc....

Yes i would even remove the S5 and V6T badges.

That's the point everybody misses: it's not only about the power, is the entire package (looks, sound, chassi, brakes etc0 that counts, thats why an S5 with 400-500 hp will never really compare to an RS,. Ever. It's the same as with BMW: With ECU mods an 335i can match the M3 E92, but it will never compare, just in different leagues.
