i don't think there will be an RS7- not with the economy the way it is. but an S7 with a paltry 400 hp is what we will likely see. the DSG might make up for the lack of power but it will not be an M or AMG killer in any way. 0-60 in 4.8 seconds perhaps.

Why are you assuming that?

Unless Audi have decided to change their whole opinion on which models in their range gets RS versions and which don't I think we will almost certainly get an RS7, you have to remember that the A7 is the coupe version of the A6 and A8 and as such it's probably viewed as the sportiest of all three. The only models that I don't think we will ever see an RS in is the two Q cars and the A8, otherwise it's all systems go.

Just to break up the the recent silence regarding the eagerly expected S7/8, more pics from The Ring and article about it... It is all speculations still though... Wish someone had a better idea about these premiers! This site is almost dead after Paris!!!??

I read else where, can't recall the forum but it's claimed that the output figures for 4.0TFSi which is to go in the S7 and Bentley were already public knowledge. I think it stated something like 440hp and 430ft/lbs in the S7 with over 500hp in the Bentley.

New York Auto Show starts Jan 10th. Press days are next week. Does anyone have info on the S8 or S7 being shown? I know Porsche has a big debut planned there- possibly the 991 or 918 spyder.

I've read that the new 4.0-litre TFSI can be boosted to around 600 bhp. In case that seems unbelievable, the 5-cylinder has been tested to 700 bhp (see YouTube video).

600hp from 4.0L is only 150hp/L, not exactly pushing the boat out, but the only problem I see is relating to torque and how much could it produce compared to it's rivalling engine options from both Mercedes and BMW, these engines are bigger, in the case of the BMW by 10% and the Merc by more than 35%. Gearing and rev limit will be vitally important to give the Audi any chance of being as potent at the wheel.

It's been a year since the A8 showed his face and now it's time for a new sibling!
Also I'm expecting they will show off their more powerful version of the new 4.0 tfsi then lower specs to follow! In that respect, Geneva for the A7 then...
