After looking for just the right RS6 for a long time now, I'm now a new owner.

I've been waiting/watching the depreciation for ~3yrs.
However, I noticed that it is getting hard to find one in the color combo you want, which has been taken care of, and has <50k miles.

I looked at several which were FS by dealerships, but were purchased at auction with no history other than carfax. With this car, that just makes me nervous.

It was so refreshing and reassuring to be able to meet the one owner/driver and have the car checked out at the dealership which sold/maintained it; and even be able to speak to the RS6 tech who had done the service and inspection.

I purchased having never driven an RS6 before, however my wife has a 04 A6 2.7t, which I love and borrowed every chance I had. Until now...:burnout:

2003 RS6
Daytona Grey
Charcoal interior
48k miles
Single owner-executive
All service. Perfect condition.
Transferable extended warranty.
And will plan to have the DRC work done in August.
(currently no klunk).

Wow. By far the fastest car I've driven. What is amazing is not just how much power is available, but that it is incredibly smooth and seemingly limitless. The rate of acceleration never lets up. Accelerating 60-120mph feels like the same rate as 0-60.

When driving home I found this open stretch of road:

A stealthy sports car with room for a family.
Truly one of the greatest cars ever made :addict:

Ben,

Well it just seems to fit...
The Millenium Falcon was a rare model, (Obe One Kenobi had never heard of it.), fast, and could carry pilot plus four adults in comfort.

I was very picky when looking for this car. And the picker you are when looking at a rare car the more difficult it is to find a great deal.

#1.
I was looking at an RS6 in Minnesota...
Daytona Grey
Black interior
36k miles
Dealership (non Audi dealership)
Unknown history
36k asking price
-this one was sold before I could buy it. The salesman did tell me the final price paid: $33,900.

#2.
RS6 in Palo Alto, CA
Daytona Grey
Black interior
45k miles
Dealership (non Audi dealership)
Unknown history
Purchased by the dealership at auction
Asking price $36,000

I had this one checked out at a local Audi dealership.
Other than needing the DRC update and a minor interior trim piece it checked out ok.

Negotiated price to $34,000.
Almost bought this one, then I found...

#3.
RS6
Daytona Grey
Black Interior
Tinted Windows (I like)
Single Owner
48k miles
All service at dealership and documented
Never tracked/raced
Inspection at the dealership = passed with flying colors "perfect".

I paid full asking price: $30,000.

I know there has been alot of discussion lately on the forum concerning price. Sure, If you are ok with buying a car with zero history, no inspection, and perhaps not your first choice of color combination, then you can find much cheaper RS6s.
However, buying one off ebay is risky with this car IMHO.

I bought a $85k+ car (I have the window sticker) for $30k !

I feel like I got a great deal and have no regrets about the price...

Hope that helps.

Argh,

Just returned from the Dealership with my wife's 04 A6 2.7T...
We had it in to do the fuel tank rollover valve recall service.

"The Torque Converter is bad, that will be $5,560 to replace".

This is not an A6 forum, but I know the TC is a weak point on the RS6's. So, I thought someone here might have some thoughts. Does the RS6 and the A6 2.7T share the same TQ?

The error code is P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circ. Performance or Stuck Off Sporadic.
Faulty Internal Oil Seal in Torque Converter.

Driving it to and from the dealership, the CEL was not on.
Did see the CEL one time under heavy acceleration last week, stayed on for ~5min then turned off.

So, is the TQ Kaput?
Can I drive the car until I get a replacement?

Thank for any help.
