View Full Version : Uk RS6's selling for a premium!

From Autocar 4/12/2002:

Audi's autobahn-storming RS6 estate is in such high demand that delivery mile examples are changing hands at specialists for upto £7000 over the official £58,800 list price.

Supercar dealer Tom Hartley says he's been inundated with inquiries from punters unwilling to wait the 6-12 months they'd be facing for delivery if they placed an order at a franchised Audi dealer. "These cars are only comming here in limited numbers and are currently in very short supply" Hartley said of the brusier. " Most of the buyers already have a Porsche or Ferrari in the garage and want something quick and pratical to use everyday or as a a second car" he added.

However, says Hartley, the booted RS6 is nowhere near as coverted and is failing to attract a premium over list.

Excuse my english, but does this mean the saloon or avant?

Boot = Saloon. I guess people prefer the Avant tradition in RS models.

They even let me take it for a test drive with trade plates, and it's awesome. Will take proper delivery on Friday.

The front badge is missing, but they have ordered a spare. Can't wait until Friday - I'm counting the hours!

wow, congratulations with your new car...

read something about the rs2 saloon....

but a real fact is ; the s6plus saloon, was quattro“s first official saloon..
So the rs6 saloon is their second..

Erik

As far as I know the RS6 is quattro GmbH's second official car.

RS6 press release:
"Following the extremely successful RS 4, the Audi RS 6 is the second independent model that has been created by quattro GmbH and developed in conjunction with AUDI AG."

wrong!!!!

do your homework rs6 lovers!!!
this is a serious mistake....
On this forum we must know the whole truth

ok...
the rs2 was a audi/porsche
than there was the s6plus...a quattro gmbh
than came the rs4 ...a quattro gmbh
and now we got the rs6 ...a quattro gmbh

so the rs6 is the third.....But relax, everybody makes this mistake.
There is more to read on www.tots.ch
go to typen, then to s6plus...

Talk to you later

greetings,
a never understood, first quattro gmbh driver in the world...hahaha

I was going to add that some people who imported the S6Plus from Germany to Sweden had the car registered under "quattro GmbH" as manufacturer.

But the above is taken from the Audi AG pressrelease, so don't kill the messenger... Interesting to see that even Audi seem to have forgotten.

Well, check it out..
It's a official fact. The car was never brought to the UK, and the US...
did you allready check the site I mentioned. Other Tip= check the nordicaudi site, and go to the brochures, read them carefully...
My registration says...official...quattro gmbh...(even most audi dealers in holland don't know this car..)
Funny isn't it
But it will open our ears:bunny2: :bunny2:
fact is a fact
speak to you later

Dave - what was your delivery mileage? Mine (as you can see from the picture above) was 44, which I thought was quite high.

FatBoy
December 5th, 2002, 16:31
My delivery mileage was about 70 miles because my dealer had to drive it from Wellesbourne where they are delivered to to the dealer because they couldn't get it on the trailer.
All RS6's are test driven by the factory on public roads so your 40 miles seems reasonable. I work about half a mile from the Jaguar plant in Coventry and there is a continuous stream of Jags going out on road tests, so I guess it is a similar situation.

Yes... they do have an extensive test at quattro GMbH...

Mine arrived with about 50 miles on the clock... did suprise me but when I read up on the Audi brochure it was all there

Cheers
Dave

PS.. Paul... how you getting on??.. enjoying it i hope :D

Hi Dave,
I had to drive to Sheffield yesterday but because the M1 was closed, I had to go cross-country via Matlock, Which meant driving over the top of the Pennines..........absolutely F***** awesome.
The weather was appalling and the roads were awash with rain water, but I'm convinced there isn't another car that could keep up with the RS6 in those conditions.
The torque is fabulous, and the amount of speed that can be carried through bends, even in the worst of conditions is incredible.
I'm also impressed with the level of refinement even running on the 35 profile tyres.
I came back on the motorway, and again it excelled...straight line stability, superb...wind noise, very good..and it wasn't the slightest bit deflected by standing water......and all accompanied by that wonderful exhaust note :addict:
Cheers
Paul

Paul,

Totally agree with everything you have written.. In fact I couldn't have put it better myself....

I'm really pleased that you are loving it too.... I've never had anything like your cobra , so for me the RS6 is by far the bast car I've ever had :D

Quattro is such a bonus too... nothing can compete in the wet and with that i would include scoobies and evos!!

Cheers
Dave

I got mine on Friday, and within 5 hours had scuffed the front driver side wheel at a garage :vsad2: I basically pulled into the garage, and under heavy breaking the car seemed to pull to the right - I didn't realise how much until it was too late!

Anyhow - a new tyre and wheel are on order and should be at the dealer on Monday. The car is still driveable, but I'm nervous about a chunk of the sidewall that's missing.

Apart from that - what can I say? I traded in my S8 on Friday which was difficult given that it's been a superb motor.

Any doubts were forgotten as soon as I found an open stretch of road and opened up the RS6 - it's *much* quicker than the S8 and so refined. You don't really realise how fast you're travelling until you apply the massive brakes! :trans:

Hi peeps,

Ok, you posted that message in 2002:)

TheGit, > The perfect combination would be, the body and looks of that S8 you had to give in, with the engine of your former RS6 :trans:

Like I said, just an idea :D

Hope you are still enjoying that diabolic 4-ringer
