On reading what Rupert Stadler said, he talked about your roots and shaping the future with new ideas and innovations. To me that sounds more like a completely new model, using new technologies with a new design image than just a new version of an existing model, admittedly an RS5 or R8Targa aren't exactly run of the mill.

May be I am read too much into this, but I reckon it will be something entirely new.

Angela Merkel is coming, so everyone is looking... Think of production version of A1 may be there is a hint on a S1....

New A2?

The old model sure did have some new tricks up it's sleeve. I'm hoping for something more exciting but who knows..

Angela Merkel means some mass product for people?
A1/A2/Q3?

Yes, I believe it won't just be one model but several: A1, A5 Sportback and maybe the RS5.

artur777/ itisme, you're right on the money: if Angela Merkel is coming to Audi's birthday party then it has to show her something for the people, something green and something futuristic.

The A1 fits all these criteria. A5 could be a useful addition too, a kind of Porsche Panamera for the masses. Not so sure they'll show RS5.

There is even a posibility we will see the new A8, "Angela Merkel's" next car.

A1. mass appeal. for the people.

Yes, but we're in the middle of the deepest recession since 1929. So it's more turbocharged 1.4s, than naturally aspirated screaming V8s.

No A5 Sportback, it's just a leaf on the A5 tree.
A1 make a chance based on talking about roots and future.
A8 D4 make a chance while it could be "Angela Merkel's" new state car.

I would expect a new era, something very environmentaly friendly.

So it will be the A1 then, Merkel can't afford to 'link' herself to a "big, high consuming, expensive" car(in the eyes of the media and the population, we know better then that ;) ), no, I think she will attend the presentation of a real 'Volkswagen', classy, good in price/quality, low consumption etc. --> The A1

indeed.

A1 Hybrid?

would like to see a new audi Q model. Something very big. Something very bad. Something very angry. Something like the Q7 V12. Just not the Q7, maybe a Q8 or Q10. An even sportier. Maybe a RSQ7/RQ7S/Q7RS. Sounds nice actually. That would be cool.

But if merkel will be there , it probably will be a A1.....lol

Well we had R8 on the track then came the R8 V8 we all know and love
Then there was R10, and we got R8 V10
Now there's R15 so maybe your hopes for lunacy aren't that much off :hahahehe:

I see the latest thinking is that the new model to be show will be an Audi E1 which will be position below the A1. Audi's equivalent to the Toyota IQ maybe.

Yes, based on the VW Up concept.

Just looked up the VW Up concept and it was not what I expected, looks very MPV in appearance, I take it the Audi version will not forward a similar root?

in another forum there are some interesting rumors about the mystery reveal of june 10th by "MCLAREN P_10":

As we all know that Lamborhini is hard at work on Project JOTA, which will be there Murcielago successor, but what many have heard as rumors happens to be very much true, Audi has started work on a Project AVUS, which will be a JOTA sister model. Power is slated to come from twin-turbo 5.2 liter V-10, producing as much as 650 BHP. The lightweight aluminum spaceframe will allow this model to keep weight very low. The twin-turbo V-10 will be mated to a 7 speed DSG transmissions which will send power through a new Quattro 4 wheel drive system that will be rear wheel bias to help push the car toa 0-60 sprint of 3.4 seconds and onto a topspeed of 210MPH. Theres also talks of Audi planning the twin-turbo 6.0 liter diesel V-12 with as much as 555 BHP. Expect the body panels to be made of aluminum, with the cockpit to be a mix of leather suede, turned and/or brushed aluminum. My sources suggest this model could be the model that will be revealed on June 10th for Audi's Centennial Celebration.
