More fact from test tomorrow.

Another interesting point from this issue of Sport Auto is technical in-depth article about TT RS.

Will be very, very interesting to see. Looking forward to it!

That frontspoiler really makes a difference on the RS compared with the S.

R8 5.2 FSI Sport Auto test

0-40: 1,5
0-60: 2,1
0-80: 3,1
0-100: 4,0
0-120: 5,2
0-140: 6,7
0-160: 8,4
0-180: 10,6
0-200: 12,9

Max: 316km/h

Hockenheim Klein Kurs 1.11,9min

Tires: Pirelli P Zero

Weight: 1671kg

Few comments: Hockenheim time is excellent since with new Corsa Evoluzione or Cup+ tires R8 5.2 FSI would be in the class of 430 Scud or almost at 997 GT2 level. Car is on the track definitely faster then Gallardo LP560-4.

Regarding Supertest and Ring time here is a hint-as fast as 997 Turbo on Cups. Just R8 5.2 FSI was on standard P Zeros...

...with Corsa Evoluzione tires. So? R8 5.2 FSI is faster, on the Ring as well as you will see on month or so in Supertest.

excellent track time

disapointing acceleration time

8.9 sec up to 200 kmh not that spectacular

A normal rs6, is almost as fast form 100-200 and a tuned version will smoke him

So i guess a great track car, but on stright line not as good as 911 turbo standart

was it manuel or r tronic

NO. In Supertest 997 Turbo manual with PCCB, LSD, SC and Cups achieved 7.54min. Sport Auto 8 months later tried again with MY09 997 Turbo with same equipment(Cups included) and achieved 7.52min. Driver was always HvS.

7.40min is dream time never confirmed by Porsche and pusblied only once in Motor trend article about 997 Turbo.

What was the time Porsche claimed they did in the 997Turbo when they took it and a GTR to the ring to see just how quick the Nissan really was, was it not something around the 7:40 mark?

The R8v10 will be quick but ring times depend on so many variables that there isn't really such thing as an 'ultimate' lap time, only the best time achieved on the day with that driver. Still I reckon something in the low seven forties would be a great result.

fab time with standard tyres!what car and what a track-balance!
more weight...less power...no semi-slick tyre...and ca. the same time of lambo!

Kreso,is it possible to install the special setup developed for Ring by quattro gmbh?

It's strange that 997.2 2S is faster than 997.1 Turbo...
COuld it be so and why?

First, 997.2 CS use optional SPASM chassis that is far better then softer PASM on 997 Turbo(SPASM is not possible on 997 Turbo). Second, PTM AWD system that Porsche use is very quick AWD system(transfer to the front wheels is very quick) and sometimes that setup can lead to sudden oversteer-that is definitely not most welcome thing when you drive on the limit on the Ring. RWD 997.2 CS with SPASM is far more natural in its track behaviour. Third, PDK-just here difference is not that big at all-W.Rohrl confirmed that.

997 Turbo with optional LSD is great car until you are driving 8/10, beyond that point it is a car for truly experienced track driver. Unlike R8 which is far more driver friendly(but, requires knowledge about fast driving and respect as every sportscar IMHO).

Very logical
So, 997.2 turbo will have SPASM to improve its Ring time? will it be faster than R8 V10 and GT3.2 at the Ring?

According to what I currently know there wont be SPASM for 997.2 Turbo.

Unless I am misunderstand what Kreso wrote '(SPASM is not possible on 997 Turbo)' then we must assume that the newer 997.2 Turbo also can't be equipped with SPASM.

Rumor beeing said the turbo.2 will be close to a gt2...
But the test mule had also a power update. Which is not sure to have in production car, as the gap to gt2 could be to small...

Totally new(low kms) manual car.

lp 560 was also new, ok but had e gear in its test version on sport auto
but performed in 36 degrees celsius, R8 V10 had way better condition (engine wise)

1 question about the two TT-RS's...why don't they have any sound/heat isolation on their hoods?
