I've just heard from the dealer that my Avus silver (custom color) RS6 sedan is alive so if I am lucky it should be here in 2 weeks. Since I don't have the manual of the car, could someone please tell me for how many km I should follow the standard break in driving style (low rpm, reasonable speed and frequent gear shifts)?

Is it going to be the same 3000 km agony as with the 997TT?

I still remember that moment....

iirc its 2500km. upto 1000km only 2-3k rpm and no full after that upto 4, no full.
after 2000k upto 6 no full.
something like that...dont have the manual on hand right now.

modulo I know the feeling :rs6kiss:

Few months back I had the same concerns but I followed a different approach. You can read it here (http://www.rs6.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16653&highlight=break)

I did change the oil at 2,500Km and made an analysis of it. Results were what it should!

The counter is at 8,300Km and everything works smooth (including the DRC :D) except the output which has been revived by mtm :)

Hi

Sorry, a little off topic, but on the break in theme, someone told me that they drive the cars around a bit after they are made, before shipping. If this is true, is the purpose of this to break the engines in, or is it just a test to make sure things basically work? When he got his new RS it had a couple of hundred kilometres on it.

60km or 300km cannot be considered as break in period. It takes more than that! So I guess they drive them around to check things.
Mine had 60Km when I took delivery.
