I think what is TRUELY funny is that many years ago, when the Japanese entered the American market, folks here laughed. Why on earth would we buy "Jap" crap?

Years later, many laughed again when the Koreans came.

Now Japan has the best selling cars in America (take away the GM and Ford "fleet sales") and the Korean are getting better every single year (just saw my very first Genesis V8 Coupe on the road). And in fact, Kia (owned by Hyundai) is trying to bid for ownership of GM.

I see how the Brits own nothing of their own cars anymore (save Lotus) and the US is very close behind (Chrysler is already owned by the Canadians.

And now here we laugh at the Chinese. ;)

For what it is worth, the car pictured above, although completely unoriginal, is very nice looking, with the exception of the tail lights.

Don't Imitate, Innovate! (Hugo Boss dixit).

Japanese and SouthKorean are innovators.
Chinese are simply imitators.

That car is nice looking because it's a plagiarism of a very nice looking car.

That is just it. The Japanese and Koreans did not start out that way. Their first automotive attempts were just copies of better cars and they built them cheaper. Hell Toyota (via Lexus) prided themselves on building a "better" and cheaper Mercedes. That is how they practically introduced the LS400 way back.

That thing is 'reely ge' indeed. Fancy the single seat.
This'll probably be another lawsuit for BMW as with the X5 lookalike.

Not that european makers are/were allways that original. Mostly copying eachother but sometimes a bit further over the sea.

Example 1.

If anyone has some more examples please don't hold back!

In Sweden we don't own our car industry anymore. SAAB and Volvo has been sold many years ago to the Americans. Did they succeed? Nope.
What will happen? Both companies are for sale, desperately. We shall see within the next month or so.

I too laught at the pictures above. I don't think there are many around here that would have that as their dream car. However in China, India etc. I'm sure there are tens of thousands who wouldn't mind this as the ultimate state of luxury, so I'm sure there's a market for the car.

The chair in the back is just priceless.
