Hey all,

Is anyone near a shop manual? Willie needs a torque spec for the drain plug bolt. I dont remember any specific number to give him.

Search is no go.

I think I went to engine- oil pan - lower oil pan- replace. I scrolled down to find oil pan bolts and drain plug torque specs.

I've changed the oil in my RS6 6 times myself (2 by dealer) and never used a torque wrench. And I own a torque wrench!!!!

And bad me I've never changed the ring seal on the plug! Perhaps dealer did. That washer/seal/ring always came with the oil filters for my 325is (1994) and M3 (1997).

I did not use a torque wrench after all but it is 18ftlb. I just snugged the bolt up against the seal until the seal/washer started to deform a little. This was the worst oil change I ever did by the way. That damn filter location was designed by the devil.

Thanks Dave.

It should not take all this to change oil. I found it easier to just remove the tubing from the turbo. I used the plier type oil filter remover, there was just enough room to get a few turns on the filter to loosen it enough to finish taking it off by hand. Then there is the oil pan bolt. If you dont have a star allen you are in trouble.

Willie,

Did you drop the sway bar mount first?

Others have gone in thru the wheel opening and take off the LF wheel.

What was that torx size? 55?

There is an opening that leads to the filter. I used it. I did not have to take off the pax side front tire. I was on a lift though.

Yes it is a T-55.

Yes. And it's been that way for years with all 4.2 liter Audi V8s.
