I found a source for quality front caliper stickers (mine are well faded) from a guy in Newcastle, UK. They cost 7.99 pounds for 5 plus 3.00 pounds for shipping to the United States. He also has RS4 and RS8 variants. The EBAY item number is 160295965403.

Good news, I want this, but I need to know how it works, do I need to spray the caliper first and cover the fadded emblems or just stick the new one exactly on top of the fadded ones?

Are you joking, there is no way a vinyl sticker will withstand the RS 6 caliper heat

i ordered a pair of those stickers a while back, never ended up using them, they are still sitting somewhere, but they look like they are pretty good quality

There's not nearly the amount of heat in the calipers as there is in the rotors. Rotors, when glowing, are probably in the 1200-1500 F range, maybe more (I'm going from memory on this stuff so cut me a little slack). Most any paint will disappear around 600F, a plastic sticker would be hard pressed to survive more than 400F. There is not much to conduct the heat from the rotors to the caliper, very small amount of area in contact between the two.

I have seen the paint discolor on the stock rims due to buildup during lapping and my own Alcon calipers are no longer the pristine silver they were when new but now have a very pimp gold hue; there is plenty of heat being transfered up there. But then these things will only manifest themselves if one actually drives the car

Based on your rotors you are still using the OE pads as well. They have eaten into your rotors. In case you dont know we have two different pads that dont eat into the rotors like that.

I have an RS6 with 70k miles and i had this same concern as the faded emblem on the calipers is just enough to make you think about them long after the car is turned off. Brought the car to a great body shop that the local Audi dealership uses and they re-did them like new. Very satisfied. Cost about $100. Well worth it. a key element in this subtle vehicles life.

Im not using stock pads since they were worn out i replaced them with EBC red. I'm happy with them even though it takes more time to warm them up.

How did you repaint them? Powder coated? or what?

They repainted the calipers and emblems? Or did they apply new decals over the paint?

We refurbish a lot of Brembo calipers and our normal prodcedure is (I am skipping the stripping them down part) paint, apply high temp decal (emblems) and then high temp laquer for a perfect finish.

This was a brand new (at the time) 997 turbo we did for a customer who wanted the ceramic look without the ceramic parts.

Using the right paint and material for the emblem is obviously critical

I just received mine. They are:
1) Larger than the original decals by about 15%
2) White, not silver
3) Read "/RS6" instead of "/RS" (although scissors will cure this easily enough)

Were yours like this, or were they like the originals?
I probably won't be putting these on my car. My original brake decals aren't that bad yet, anyway.

I'm guessing they would last about three laps with my style of driving/braking (late, hard, and trail braking)...or 2 weeks of me driving to work.

Fritz has a nice set of gold wheels after a track day. Seemed to be related to the aftermarket pad used as well as hasn't happened to his other set.

I disagree with you, I was thinking the same also, but I decide to give it a try. I put them 10 days ago and I do drive hard sometimes and I believe the calipers got some high temp. sometimes and I still can see no difference in colors till today. They are really good. lets monitor it for next couple of weeks and see. Here are some photos for them

I'm going to put mine on this weekend after I touch up the calipers with high temp paint. I may coat the decals with high temp clear. I hope it works out well.

They're vinyl so I assume peel back and apply.

I had an email from the seller stating they are resistant to heat and weather.....for how long is anyones guess.

Yes, just peel and apply like 3M tape.

Hey Vangelis,

How much did those MTM wheels set you back? I'm assuming 19"?

Send me a PM if you don't want to post the price in this thread.

Thanks!

So far so good. I cleaned the calipers, re-painted them with high heat paint, applied the decals and coated them with clear high heat caliper paint to protect them from brake dust and routine cleaning. 400 street and spirited driven miles and two pressure washes-no issues. Cool.

Yes,, these are 19" MTM Bimoto wheels, I bought them from MTM dealer here in Dubai for $2,800 USD. Great wheels to have.

I saw the ones you bought but preferred the silver 'RS' rather than white sold by motor_graphics. Should be interesting.

Me, too. I got the white ones by mistake. Let me know if your silver ones are exactly like the originals (size and color).

Unfortunately yes,, I had to stick these stickers while doing the SS brake lines as I didn't have time to do the paint for the calipers,, I was also trying to see how these stickers will work, can resist the heat. Now I'm sure about the quality of those stickers, soon will arrange to paint the calipers and stick either the same white stickers or the silver ones if they look like the original and same size as the white stickers i got looks litte bit bigger.

SAF

They look good, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to do a paint job to apply these. If they aren't the same size as the original decals I suppose I have no choice. Can anyone confirm the size of silver ones?

I'd be interested in a group by if there are enough people looking for these that haven't already pulled the trigger.

DuckWingDuck
April 11th, 2009, 20:54
ya, it's a couple bucks and doesn't seem to be too difficult, put me down for the group buy. As long as it fits/covers the current sticker as I don't want to have to paint my calipers either!

No pics yet, but the silver script decals have gone on and they look superb! Almost exactly the same size as the originals so no faded logo to be seen (if you're not painting calipers that is!)

I'll get some pics up when I've cleaned her.
