<![endif]--> The last weeks I’ve been think that my TC is singing on its last song, but I often come across threads that stipulate that the ECU is the thug and not the TC!
So here is exactly how I feel my car is failing:
When I accelerate slowly from 30km/h-130km/h there are like spikes or one could call it “lagg” in 3000rpm and sometimes 3500-4000rpm. Sometimes in 2 gear, 3 gear or 4 gear. But the engine doesn’t rev up. It only like “spikes” or laggs. So instead of doing 60-120in 3 seconds it does it in maybe 4 seconds or 5.
But when I floor it, it almost always works fine. So is this really my TC giving up or do I have malfunctioning ECU? Its been updated at http://www.tuningchip.com/

Well anyways my latest theory is that it’s the performance chip that’s malfunctioning.

My crystal ball is broken.

What are we working on here and where are you?

I think its time to get the Vag-com and data log some boost parameters.

We just got done with another RS6/w chip and determined that the overboost problem was not the fault of the chip. There would have been no way to make that call without Vag-com

Also no way to diagnose such a driving symptom without a complete guess.

DHall1, which measuring blocks do I use for boost? MAP air flow?

All parameters are there to diagnose. You will have to go to the Ross web site and read.

Its fairly easy to determine if your "chip" is doing what its meant to be doing with the Vag. From there its a matter of logic and progression.

Its fairly easy but takes time.

Hi LfD, actually I had the very same problem with my car 2 months back and I thought also that TC need to replaced, specially after i took it to the dealer and they told me that the whole gearbox is gone and I need to get a new one. After I check with some good workshops here, one only told me to leave the car for one day to check it and report what exactly could be the problem. Second day they called and told me it gonna cost only $500 USD and it will solve the problem. I was surprised actually after fixing it, the car is totally different now after that fix and the acceleration is VERYYY good and shits are veryyy smooth. I just came to relize that I had a problem all that time even before this problem appear cuz I never felt that smooth and this acceleration since I bought the car from the dealer. The workshop told me that the problem was with the valve body only and filter, they clean the valve body and replace the filter with new one, and they've did transmission flushing and new oil. The car now is really amazing in acceleration and very smooth shifting. I hope the same case will be there and that can help.

omg that sounds great. Can you explain what the valve boydy is or do? I have to translate this info to swedish =P

The Valve body is a hydraulic control center that receives pressurized fluid from a main pump operated by the fluid coupling/torque converter. The pressure coming from this pump is regulated and used to run a network of spring-loaded valves. The valves use the pump pressure and the pressure from a centrifugal governor on the output side (as well as hydraulic signals from the range selector valves and the throttle valve or modulator) to control which ratio is selected on the gearset; as the car and engine change speed, the difference between the pressures changes, causing different sets of valves to open and close. The hydraulic pressure controlled by these valves drives the various clutch and brake band actuators, thereby controlling the operation of the planetary gearset to select the optimum gear ratio for the current operating conditions. However, in many modern automatic transmissions, the valves are controlled by electro-mechanical servos which are controlled by the Engine controller Unit (ECU) or a separate Transmission controller Unit (TCU).

The good news is, you don't have to pull out the transmission, it is just a matter of 4-6 hours of work while your car up on the lift all that can be done.

Here is a photo of a valve body (could not find one for RS6).

Wait a minute...60-120 in 3-5 seconds? Is this possible? What kind of mods? Have you logged it with a Pbox or are you just guesstimating?

I think that is in kph -- so it would be like 37 to 56 mph in 3-5 seconds not nearly as impressive.

Oh OK, I know they can 0-60 pretty good, but I nearly crapped myself...I spent a lot of time and money on my 996tt to get those numebrs and here comes this land barge with who knows what mods!!!:lovl:...(and I meant land barge in the MOST loving way:hihi:)

60kph-120kph= 37mph to 74mph?

In actuality, thats still pretty good. I've logged a couple 3.3's with my 996tt with 1 crappy shift as I am afraid to ruin my synchros, so I shift kinda Slloooowww...
