There was a lot of speculation about the prototype which Audi will presents on the NAIAS Detroit.
Does it become the A7 or A5 Sportback? It proves to be a combination of both.

The "Audi Sportback Concept" give a pre-view of several new niche models Audi plan to extend his model range in the short term, such as the 4-door A7 and the sporty 5-door A5 Sportback.
The pictures could not be shown before Sunday evening, but a leak has decided about that differently.
On further details on Audi's newest study model we have to wait till sunday late or monday.

I am just the opposite. I love the side line and the bottom. But the front grill is a little bit strange to me. I think this is one that is going to take some time to grow on me. It is going to be gorgeous car!

If I could go to Ingolstadt and personally BEG to Audi not to make an A5 sportback, I would.

I really want this to be the A7. The A5 line does not deserve dilution. Coupe and convertible should be the only variations.

It will be OK, I'm sure... Only thing that worries me is its drivebility, its based ond C6 A6 if I'm not wrong, and that isn't the ''best driving cars on the market''. Maybe it was better for Audi to placed on the modern platform.

I read somewhere it's based on the MLP platform.

I read somewhere it's based on the MLP platform.

I honestly thought the A7 was also based on the new MLP platform. It would be absurd to launch a new model that will have the life cycle of 6~8 years on a design that is already a few years old and already went through a mid-life renewal.

The next A6 will be part alloy and be the lightest in it's class, surely the A7 will need to benefit from such advances especially with it's saloon/coupe appearance and sporting aspirations.

the A7 will be based on the next gen A6 which is also based on MLP

In that case, everything is OK! ;)

Look at the interior! Perfect imo

Are these pictures from Detroit?

If so then it looks like the info from WCF and others was right after all.

P.S.

Car looks even better than expected and that interior is something else.

Now, just Audi needs to release it, and everything will be great!

...to bad there isn't pic' of the rear end...

LOVE the front and rear lights. Also love the side profile, it does resemble the lambo quite a bit. I am iffy about the grill, looks awkward.

Definitely a new direction of exterior style (more sharpness) and interior as well.

For beeing a concept car it looks good, not to futuristic. This is a good way to work on for Audi.

On this real life pictures it look awesome!!! Except the front grill. The interior is very cute :)

The wheels look HUGE!

And I'd prefer softer angles, not so sharp.

AndyBG

wheels are 21''...

Maybe it is said before but I think you will have to make an A7/S7/RS7 map, Erik. Or maybe when it's not a concept anymore:hahahehe:

I for one like this new design - a lot in fact!

Actually, and I am not sure anyone else noticed, but the rear side view of the A7 Concept reminds me very much of the 1971 Audi 100 Coupe S. One of Audi's most beautiful early designs. There seems to a bit of the 100 Coupe S in the design. Anyone have pics of the 100 Coupe S they can load here?

Sorry for saying it, but: I really don't like it:noshake: Hate the style of the new grille, hate the strange line of the side windows on the back, and really don't like the Passat-style dashboard:nana: The car is a big NO for me, which didn't happened before with an Audi. The side-view of the car was awful even on the Lambo, it didn't get any better with the 4 rings logo either. Personally i hope production model will be far from this concept, just as far as Nuvolari was, from the A5 (and i liked Nuvolari very much...)

Regards,

Tom

ya, not feeling the grill at all. I love how the curves of the existing grill pretty much have PERFECT curves... and reinforcing the design curves found on the steering wheel is genius... the angles on the new grill kill it for me.
