My former beast had to survive -38C in the far north of Sweden a few years ago. -11C is like summer compared to that. :)

Is that a 10-liter average consumption? :D

That amazes me more than -11.5 :))

-11,5? C'mon... Comparing to where I'm going tommorow (Norway to go skiing.) that is like summer. ;)

I should have taken a pic of the -44C we had a couple of weeks ago. It's -27 (-36 with the wind chill) right now and only expected to get up to -17 this afternoon. We've been under an arctic disturbance for the past 3.5 weeks here and setting records for cold temperatures and quantity of snow. I'm looking forward to things getting back to average with the minus teen temperatures at night and single minus digits during the day.

I used to be an arctic ranger for the cumpulsory military training, 10 months in Arvidsjaur. :snow:

I didn't become a member in the "CLUB -50C", i.e. being outside at that temperature over night, but it was close.

Slept in a tent a close -50C for a night, needless to say we didn't have a guard outside that night...

I prefer :cool2:

A lot of cars are tested in Arvidsjaur, on the frozen lakes.

Do you special thinks on your cars to drive at such low temperature ?
I suppose they are stored in heated garage ?

I guess it's mostly heated garages that's being used up there. But I guess also engine-heaters plugged into the wall is common.

That's what we use when going up in the north.

FredericMany utilize engine block heaters to aid in the easy start of their automobiles. That said I purchased my RS6 this past summer and as ironic as this sounds - don't know if the car came with a block heater or not. I will have to go and look to see if there is a cord somewhere near the front under the hood. Even with teh -40 temperatures, I've been able to start the car reliably and after a 15-20 minute warm up drive away just fine. Synthetic oil helps alot as it remains viscus as very cold temperatures. That and a good high amperage battery to ensure the starter cranks over well, a glycol coolant mixture that is good to -60+ and you're set. :)

damn you lucky bastards. Your rs6's must be fast as hell with temps that low. Coldest i've seen this year is 45F in phoenix. What is that.. maybe 7-10C?

I'm still using my aquamist intercooler spray! I'm even having my tech fit another nozzle next week!

same here ,, the temp reach 45c and sometimes over 50c ,, but when its cold like the car become a real beast,, that cold was not less 10c.

All of my FI rides run strong through the winter months. When the roads are dry and clear I pull out the Buick and Acura and blast them for a few km's down the main freeway to keep everything lubbed up and the battery charged. Regardless of how nice of an intercooler system you have on the car, the winter temps are unbeatable. Wish I could mimic them during the warmer summer months. :)

Just wanted to flick in with something, no pics I'm afraid.

But when we reached Hemsedal in Norway last Sunday the old Audi 80 2.6 had to stand with -25 celcius. Wen't one like a clock! :thumb:

Resurecting this thread. Have NOT located a power cord to plug the engines block heater in. -30C here tonight and not eager to keep relying on just a strong battery and synthetic to get things going in the morning. Anyone living in cold areas that have "true" winters, can you please chime in and let me know what you do for cold weather starts?

Bruce,

Did you hear?

C02 is "dangerous" to your health and must be regulated.

:nono:

We will never see another RS6 on this soil.

Enjoy your new ride.
