So i'm slipping on the KW set up to replace the stock Audi mess. The question is what OEM parts do i need to replace?? i have seen a list on here and sent that in to the dealer/stealer...

4D0-412-377-F $53.87 ea 2-3 working days to get

8D0-412-065-F $61.97 ea 2-3 working days to get

8D0-412-065-G $60.75 ea 2-3 working days to get

8E0-512-121-D $98.89 ea 2-3 working days to get

4B3-512-131-C $49.35 ea 3-5 working days to get

8E0-512-149-H $24.68 ea 2-3 working days to get

Oil filter $16.50

Seal ring $1.35

Oil $8.08 ea X 8

Figured i'd do the oil while i had the sways off .. The total is around $800!!!!! Ouch
The car has 22k miles on it... do i need to do all this now?? I figured since i have her apart it would be a good idea or am i jumping the gun here?? Any advice??

Thanks in advance fellas.

Somewhere I did a list along w/pix of all the parts needed to just do a direct swap out of the KW's and not have to scavenge anything from the stock Demon Riddled Catastrophe. Give it a quick search.

I believe that you need to order two extra nuts that go on the top of the front struts - I did not and will have to steal them from the trash can bound pieces. (I wouldn't give those things to anyone, much less try to sell them)

H-Shot, what's part # 8D0-412-065-G?

Try www.purems.com (http://www.purems.com) they were selling a complete kit and they also have the Stearns adjustable upper control arms. Has anyone who has lowered there RS6 had problems with Camber? or Caster? My 1" lowered tt has way too much camber and the only way to fix it is with adjustable arms?
I am getting ready to do the same as you. I have new KW V3's in the box and want to change all of my arms (50K miles). I am wondering if I need the adjustable arms or not? I think there complete kit without the arms is around $500~$600. The adjustable arms alone are $500.

I justed E-mailed Pure Motorsports to see if they still offered the kit rather than purchasing them separately like there website now shows. I'll post there reply when I get it.

H-Shot, what's part # 8D0-412-065-G?

I asked the dealer about this and he said that part now superseedes the # 8D0-412-065-F part.

Good point on the adjustable control arms... Grizz would be the fella that can probably help answer those questions on camber etc.

Parts ordered... I'll post the pics on the install process when it's in (probably early Jan.)

Thanks again for the input - and the note on the extra nuts for the top of the struts KfabR8

What's the part number for the top nuts?

Here is the reply I received from Pure Motorsports:

Hi Mark,
The kit accidentally got unmarked for the RS6. It's listed under our A6 4.2L, which is the same fitment as the RS6.
This kit is for vehicles with aluminum uprights (most RS6's)
http://www.purems.com/products/product.php/II=1869 (http://www.purems.com/products/product.php/II=1869)

And this kit is for vehicles with steel uprights.
http://www.purems.com/products/product.php/II=1789 (http://www.purems.com/products/product.php/II=1789)
Hope that helps.

Thank you

What's the part number for the top nuts?No clue. I just went to the catalog site and the numbers of the parts don't seem to coincide with the diagram and parts listing.

It also may be on the rear shocks instead of the front. (after looking at the parts diagram I'm more confused than normal )

I'll take a look while at my shop this afternoon and try to get either a picture or a bit more info - at least more specific as to which shock set, if nothing else.

I believe it to be a 12x1.5 nut. Possibly self locking?

Anybody know if the Stearns adjustable upper control arms are essentially the same thing as the old CPP?

I did hear that they used the same bushings which probably means soft and weak for the weight of our cars. Fine for a A4, but too weak and small for an RS6.

I was wrong about the nut. There's only one needed. The rear shocks have two nuts - one's used as a jamb nut. I was thinking that the front worked the same way, but it just uses a large nyloc nut.

Here are some pix of my shocks and the parts I ordered.
Ready to bolt in:

The parts I ordered are the black rubber damper and the cup between the spring and the nut on the front damper (top one in the pic below) and the aluminum upper housing and the rubber shock locating boot between the nut and the spring on the lower shock (rear) in the pic below:
http://www.yellowdogracing.com/Audi/DSC01235.JPG

Here you can see the two nut setup on the rear shocks and the single nut on the front:

KfabR8, great pics. One question, does the cup for the front have a rubber bushing attached to the bottom?

Yes it does. Take a look at the top picture with all four shocks in it - you can see that the the spring fits into a rubber pad that takes in account for the coil not being flat ground. Just like the cone shaped piece on the rear shock ass'y.
