No, not a turbo. It uses an Eaton 4-vane Roots-style supercharger. Lots of information here:

Not crazy about the Avant or the sedan S4. Too much of a sleeper. Love the S5, but this thing is just missing something. I drove the A4 2.0T as a loaner vehicle from dealership and it was so soft and big and weak that I was left emotionless. Audi's also launching the next S4 so late in the US that when my lease is up in June, I'll only have an A4 3.2 to choose from. May have to get my first bmer, hate to say.

I doubt very much that you will leave a test drive of the S4 emotionless.

Hij zat hier eerder op het forum onder de naam Hans (of iets in die zin, zeker één van die protestants-Nederlandse namen), is toen verdwenen, en wedergekeerd als de mysterieuze Jarod. The Pretender was (is?) geloof ik een actie serie van klein kaliber, zo één die ze buiten prime time uitzenden gericht naar de professionele werklozen, over een man genaamd Jarod, die zijn verleden niet weet, achtervolgt wordt door een geheime organisatie, en iedere aflevering van identiteit veranderd. Hij is natuurlijk abnormaal getalenteerd met een onbaatzuchtige ziel zoals we dat gewend zijn van de helden van dit soort geformuleerde televisie programmas. Ieder aflevering heeft hij een ander beroep zoals hersenchirurg, quantum fysica professor of interieur architect, en redt hij arme mensen van de dood.
Ik heb nog nooit een aflevering gezien, enkel de trailers op VT4, dus ik kan er naast zitten.

De overkant van mijn straat is Merelbeke. Ik ben wel geen trouwe RS6 fan. Ik zou zeer moeilijk kunnen kiezen tussen een RS6 of een Alpina B5S, en het zou waarschijnlijk de Alpina worden. Maar het snob gehalte ligt met enkele uitzonderingen bij de Audi fans voorlopig nog wat lager, vandaar dat ik op dit forum vertoef.

Agreed the 3.0 SC engine is clever, but for me a V6 just doesn't have the emotion of a V8. When a V6 passes me in the street I just carry on walking, but whenever a V8 passes me I stop and look.

Sorry but for me a V6 will never leave me stirred or inspired, no matter how much power or torque it has there just won't be enough emotion there.

I can't wait to hear the whine of that supercharger... that will surely turn heads, esp. after a tuning program is applied and a milltek exhaust... game over.

Actually I think I read in the EVO review that you can barely hear the whine!

The S4 is getting some very impressive reviews. With most of the praise going to it's incredible chassis and star item, the SportDiff.

One comment I read which was great was the one that said they found it to be as playful as any rwd BMW or Merc.

Who said you needed rwd to have fun.

@Mockenrue: Where did you find the photo's of the dark grey Avant? I'd love to see larger photo's of that one! And what color is it? Meteor Grey?

@Michaël: There is a S4 Avant (Monza silver?) at the Autosalon in Brussels. You have till Sunday to go over there and take some better pictures :thumb:
