Very nice video. What I was suprised to see was the GT2 do so well against the ZR1 considering it had a 100 hp defecit!

sportec has told me repeateadly that they've measured 7-8 stock gt2s and they all made much more power than quoted; 560+hp. One car actually made 585hp on their dyno.. They obviously vouch for the accuracy of their dyno but regardless they think that the factory quoted numbers are conservative.

Being conservative and telling a huge lie is totally different. If the GTR is quoted at 480hp and is actually making up to 580hp that is more than 20% extra. I can't think of a single company which miss quotes their figures as bad.

Does anyone know how much this GTR was actually producing at the wheels? I doubt if it's as high as in Z07's quote because it did get beaten by a fair margin in the drag race which not only plays to traction but to hp as well, a 580hp GTR would have won this 1/2 mile sprint.

might be possible that nissan QC is terrible and so the outputs can vary wildly- hence no faith in the tranny with launch control to be either a- be reliable enough for the power and or b- unmask the a wild range of 0-60 times in various cars.

The quote referenced the GT2's power Leadie.;) That's why it keeps up with 640bhp cars.

The GTR has about 520 on average in reality. Some may have 550, some only 500.

I think they missed that. :D

Now that makes more sense why the GT2 keeps up with the big boys. Thanks for the explaination. :dig:

I was going to mention Porsche as one of the manufacturers which DO under rated their products, but decided that even they didn't go to the same extremes as Nissan were doing with the GTR.

Maybe the Corvette is over rated, anyone thought of that?

Some of them may be a little over rated (as regards power output) going from dyno tests. They all have at least 600bhp but might not quite make 640.
