Hi, I got a new 911 with a PDK gearbox about 10 days ago. It's spent the last 5 days back at the garage, as the gearbox locks itself in one gear, and "gearbox failure" or something similar comes up on the display.

The garage and the factory don't know what's wrong and are trying to work out how to fix it.

Has anyone else had problems with the PDK gearbox?

Thanks

First one I have heard of having problems.

me too..

Looks like it's time to compare DSG, M-DCT and PDK;-)
Does anybody know any facts or figures??

BTW - Nissan GT-R is out of competition due to it's very 'reliable' transmission;-)

IMHO - DSG / S-Tronic should be No.1;-)

There were some problems in the first DSG gearboxes delivered to customer...

I wonder how the new S/Tronic 7speed will do? If anyone should get it right it's Audi, what with all their years of experience.

this is why i never criticized audi for taking its time. it will certainly be bulletproof from the get go. a few bad apples, but nothing like the underengineered box in the GTR that is not even designed to produce the numbers the car is marketed of being able to make when the customer drives it home. mark this- nissan will make a true manual option for the GTR and it will be .5 sec slower than the the DSG without the failures. i don't think the porsche issue is anything major- probably just a few bad apples.

The car is advertised as 0-60 in 3.5s and it does that without LC. It has also ran 11.9@120 without LC. It also delivers over 500lbft as opposed to 300lbft.:p

I would still pick the GTR over the 911...

Similar problem is affecting the M3.There are times when the car will not down shift or will not shift up a gear. There is currently a software update that resolves this issue but u have to leave ur car at the dealership 4 an entire day.
M DCT is a complete joke.

Going back to Porsche. My mate bought a Cayenne & the engine won’t switch off.
The dealership has no idea what the problem is or how to fix it.
