a friend of mine is thinking of buying a 2005 M5, what do u guys think about it.......and i know some people don't like the SMG....is that "really" bad?? and what should he knows about before buying it?:vhmmm: :confused:

SMG is bearable in manual mode but in auto the thing is a joke. The M5 is a big heavy Sports Saloon, it's not a sportscar no matter how much BMW will try and tell you it is. The car is competing with the likes of the E63 and RS6, two cars with automatics which hold the gear and shift as quick as the SMG but perform the role of an automatic to a standard unheard of with the M5 transmission.
To describe the M5 in four words.
Good car, shit transmission.
