Guys, I've bought that product and want your opinions about it. I bought the Oil filter but didn't fix it yet to tell the difference. But I've seens ads to new product also called Gas Saving magnets. I would like to know your thoughts about these and advice. Here are the links for them:

Fuel system magnets:

It's like feng-shui for your fuel. These magnets clip to your fuel line and allegedly align fuel molecules in a way that's better for combustion. Companies selling fuel system magnets claim a 10% - 20% fuel economy improvement. This sounds clever, but FTC tests found no significant improvement in fuel economy.

Also, Mythbusters (a television show in the US) did an episode of gas saving myths and they found no advantages to this fuel saving magnet.

:harass:Align the molecules in the fuel?

HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!

Aligning the molecules does, uh, what?

Nothing!

MAYBE as the fuel passes through the magnet some of the molecules (very, very unlikely - fuel doesn't have magnetic properties) are affected for a moment, but the second they're out of the magnet's field, it's all back to normal.

By the time the fuel goes through the rest of the line, the throttle bodies and injectors it's just a vaporous spray anyhow.

99.9999999999999999999999999999999% (if not more) of those products are total bull and are nothing more than snake oil.

Anyone remember Slick 50? - now there was a killer marketing scheme for a totally bullshit product.:brag:

As far as an oil filter magnet goes - once again, pure bull. :nono:

If you want to put a magnet on/in anything, put in a magnetic oil drain plug and capture the small metal shards that show up periodically. :mech: These DO work and work well, but they've nothing to do w/fuel economy or anything of that order.

The oil filter magnets may have some merit, just like our magnetic drain plugs on the cars. Some particles can be too small and pass right through filters but usually it is not the bearings to go first but the piston rings or valves seats. I don't use one but since you already have the filter magnet, a little extra insurance there can't hurt. MGH
