Bonjour,

My little finger was recently at Ingolstatd. He heard a special TT-R was at Nardo for max speed tests. The TT-R, instead of the normal 340 5 cylinders engine, had a 550+ hp 5 cylinders engine. So fast that Porsche killed the project...

My little finger also heard that the top head of the 5 cylinders engine used in the TTR is the same as in the RS6 V10...

Well hi there little finger, long time no post. Nice to hear from you as usual mate.
Regarding Porsche Killing the proyect...well....let me put it this way, I'm starting to think they're lossing competitivity by doing that.

that means they killed the 550hp engine in this car and there will be a TT-R with around 340hp??? or does it mean there will be completly no TT-R???

i hope there will be one, if not. i would hate porsche that much, i would kill them!!!

I also hope that i understand your little finger correctly (litle finger language is chalange :hihi: ) and that a TTR with 340 HP will come.

Besides the advantages that a Porsche involvement in VAG brings - they really start to annoy me.

I respect their cars, but personally prefer Audi.

Leave the boys in Ingolstadt some leeway. You might loose some Porsche sales but gain some other, that were never in the market for a Porsche.

Word is that Porsche are currently testing a Clubsport version of the Cayman at the ring, no power figures but most are expecting 330~340hp. If it makes production then I can't see why they would need to stop a TT/R, it's going to weigh more, will have less power to the wheels because of the awd chassis and will be less focused.

Keep the faith guys, hopefully all is not lost.

My little finger was not accurate enough.

Porsche killed the TT-R 550+ hp. But the 340hp version will be released. My little finger talked to friends who drove it. Very impressive car was the comment....

do you mean with that that THIS TT-R with 550hp had chances to go into production before porsche stopped it?

No, there was never any likelihood of a 550hp version making it to production but by the sounds of it the car had some tasty little mods which placed the car ahead of the Cayman. Remember my original thread about the TT/RS being something special among the rest of the RS models.

Well bingo. ;)

ok but when audi never planned to bring this TT-R with 550 hp into production. why did they modified it to 550hp??? what does it bring audi?

A bullit proof engine.
It have already run with 600 hp without any problems.
Porsche is running close to 360 hp in the Cayman RS.
The TT-R will have ±348 hp/448 Nm.

The engine will make it's way into more than just the TT/RS. The TT's output figures are only the starting point.

That are two different cars.
The one without rearspoiler is the testmule from the movie.
And the one with rearspoiler is a later one. (maybe a 3.6 Quattro)

I really doubt a 550 horsepower 2.5 liter engine would meet emission requirements, would have excellent drivability, last 100,000+ miles. Basically Audi would need some sort of magic to make a 550 horsepower 2.5 liter that would be ok for a car they can sell.

At best Audi currently has a 270 horsepower 2.0T for the TT-S, where is my 440 horsepower TT-S?

350 hp/ 330 lb-ft of torque should make an excellent TT-RS (or whatever it's gonna be called) There was also a rumour of a Jetta with this engine for the US, but I am not sure about that. But I imagine that Audi would want to use this engine on more than one car.

I think the Jetta in question is using a vee 5, not the inline 5 that the TT/RS will receive. :thumb:

How will porsche allow a TTR with 350HP when it would crush the FL Cayman S with 320HP? They may be testing a Cayman with 360HP as you say (Souce??) but will the release a cayman with more horsepower than the facelifted carrera? I dont think so.

It's the only reason why Porsche might stop the TT/RS, but then would the person buying a Cayman really consider the Audi anyway and in that case would the person buying a 997 really consider the Cayman for the same reasons. Most of this car are bought for image and status as much as ability.

This is ridiculous. Most of Audi’s stable is in direct competition to the Panamera, is Porsche going to force Audi to hold back its entire range of performance sedans as well ?

New info say the TT-R will have 250 kW (340 hp).
Further there are indications that the TT-R will get a fixed rear spoiler.
