Ive been looking at RS6's and notice some have a smoked tailight and some have a standard red tailight. Can someone enlighten me?

The smoked tail lights are aftermarket. They (or at least the correct ones) are made by Hella and are a direct replacement for OEM, which is also made by Hella.

Mine (smoked) should be here today too! (:

not only are there smoked tail lights but there are also LED tail lights which take out the ugly amber.

I have the Hella LED lights with the white/red combination. I like them.

Copper, are the LED lights also made by Hella? Where did you get them and what did you have pay (if you don't mind me asking)?

Yes, Hella units. There are others as well but I thought Hella would be er... hella good!

Got 'em on eBay and paid $250 for the pair.

They look exactly like the units Vangelis has. Really update the look of the '03.

there are apparently 2 good manuf. of LED taillights, one from hella (I wasn't aware of that one, only thought they did a smoked) and one from some german manufacturer (this is the one I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fse arch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37.l1313%26sati tle%3D220236019420%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1&item=220236019420)

Another thing about these LEDs is that they take out the amber which, from what I can gather was only ever put on the RS6....

FINALLY someone put a before/after of the LED tail lights.

I was cowaring in the forum corner fearful to ask as DuckSDuck would toss the "SEARCH YOU FOOL!!!" grenade....

Oh yeah, back to the thread, VERY clean lighting!

I am just funning with ya!

I remember seeing the brake cooling upgrade but no before/after photos of tail lights...

Oh, and the upgrade difference between standard and RNS-E
Oh yeah, Drew's before/after of DRC and KW's

And your new shoes also!

Love the stealth fighter meets Darth Vader look. "Murdered Out". It's so 2010. I guess the days of lots of chrome are no longer in vogue.

Saw a 997TT the other day that was black (paint) on black (wheels) on black (trim) on black (lights) on black (tint) on black 911 Turbo emblem on black (interior) with the drivers' window down that had an old, bald guy driving who was..... white.

I personally like the standard OEM European taillights.

folks, got a quick question.... If you look at the below photos, you'll see that I do have SOME factory tint, is it possible to get more? I've heard that once your window has been tinted, you can't really add more?

I like the smoked lights and have them on my car. Depending on your local authority though you could get hassled or even ticketed so do your research on their use.

Ya, compared to the stock look, smoked is definitely better.

<img src=http://pictures.twilightstar.net/d/21155-2/IMG_0464.JPG>

However, for "black" cars like ours, I would prefer black, not smoked. Though I suspect that would be totally illegal...

Bigglezworth, I noticed that you have rear mudflaps, as I do. Do you have mudflaps for the front, as well? I used A6 4.2 rears, but I was unable to make the A6 4.2 fronts fit due to the RS6 rocker panels/side skirts.
If so, where did you get them?
