Newbie question, how do I persuade the head unit to eject the sat nav disc? Bought an upgrade and can't swap the discs. Pathetic, I know.

if its rns-e and you never before ejected dvd, then dealer forgot to unlock it, you need vag-com

Car is 2003, I don't know if its locked, I had an RAC inspection done and the dealer told me the RAC guy ejected the disc after considerable effort.

What's the procedure and I'll give it a go, otherwise I'll have to take it to a stealer and get raped. I bet ejecting the disc will be more expensive than the upgrade.

This sort of crap is really unnecessary.

i assume you have tried the "eject" button (unclear by your description as to the actual problem)?

I know that a lot of cd/dvd drives for computers have a manual eject button, normally it's a small hole that you push a paperclip into to manually force the tray to eject... Not sure if the RNS-E has such an option.

1. Turn on the ignition.

2. Make sure you are not in "NAV" or "CD" mode. Select "Radio"

3. Select the "Open" button for the screen to slide open

4. Select the "Eject/Release" button in the far left upper corner.

The DVD should come out after it spins down. It may take up to 1 minute, just be patient it it "unseating" itself from the main hardware FPGA with the main maps.

If this does not work then I have no idea other than contacting RSXJr via email.

Sorted.

I seem to have a different system to you guys, there is no eject button on the face, and there is no screen sliding involved.

The eject CD function is in the internal menus but without a manual, it isn't easy to find. Job done however and thanks for your prompt responses.

Now, back to that DRC....

Hmm, do you have the RNS-D then? The CD based navigation system?

Don't know exactly, it says navigation plus on the system and it has a CD slot on the top of the unit.

It has a little flag to the right where an eject button would normally be, I had thought it was the eject button. However, I now realise that when you press the flag, you get directed to the nearest golf club, nice feature, now where are my plus fours?

OK, 2 errors in my post:

The "Eject" button behind the screen is in the upper RIGHT side, not left.

It's NSXJr not RSXJr.

Good to hear that you sorted it out. Perhaps you have the CD GPS that came with the car and the "Eject" button is then on the unit in the trunk on the face?
