First Cadillac CTS-V performance test published

The CTS-V ran the quarter-mile in a scant 12.5 seconds, besting the 12.7 it takes for either the BMW M5 or the Mercedes E63 AMG. Getting back to a standstill was another hit to the Bimmer and the Benz, with the Caddy stopping from 60-0 mph in 109 feet – five feet less than it takes the M5 and six shorter than the AMG. And if you're thinking that brakes and power are easy to upgrade and that the Cadillac couldn't possibly best the Germans on the handling course, think again: the CTS-V ran the slalom at 71.1 mph, while the M5 and E63 ran it in 68.5 and 65 mph respectively.

As expected, its quicker than the M5. Keep in mind that it will be quicker when tested by American magazines (just as the M5 is quicker in other tests) Inside Line is known for slow times (compared to magazines such as Car and Driver/Road & Track)

I think the RS6 sedan should be about this quick as well. Hopefully an American magazine will get to test it sometime in the future.

Also, the CTS-V uses a bigger version of the supercharger that will be in the S4.

it handles so well because of the magnetic suspension. the concept is a gem. it is a big factor that gives the R8 such outstanding handling (and helped the ZR1 round the ring faster than the GTR), a feat the GTR matches with a slew of electronics.

based on specs alone the RS6 will be about even with this car. the RS6 can be chipped easily, however and doing will help it destroy this car.

The Caddy should shame itself if it wasn't faster in a straight line.
Respect for the slalom.
