Would it make sence for Audi to bring a new base R8 model with V6 3.0TFSI Supercharged engine. ?

I have no clue whatsoever mate. But i do believe it would suck to have such a nice car with anything less than a V8 in it.

True. I think the V8 is perfect for it and cant consider anything with a smaller capacity or smaller output. The only thing that could be considered is something to replace the V8 with maybe more power. Even that isnt such a good idea since the R8 is already such a beast, and if you want more power go for the V10 :D

Absolutely no, the V8 makes perfect sence as an entry-level engine.

Nope, in that case you'd see R8s everywhere!

Another good point. I love the fact you hardly see it around, because when you see it it's special.

would not make sense. where would they position it? a 350 hp R8? there is a 350 hp TTR coming. further, it would be a waste of a chassis designed for much more power. the structure was actually designed for 500 hp plus. the original concept had 610 hp.

There is absolutely no need for a de-tuned R8. Even the R8 is one of the slowest (straight lines of course) and least powerful car of it's category. Don't misunderstood me, it's probably the best from them, but also the least powerful. I think the thing what R8 needs besides the V10 is an updated V8, GT3-edition based, with an output of ~450-470hp. Raising the rev should not be a problem, current V8 is not in the highest-rev territory, there is deffinitely some space above it.

Audi don't need a less powerful R8, what it needs is a light weight version, a ClubSport to compete with the GT3RS and the F430 Scuds of this world.

You'd see tweaked 3.0TFSI R8s with hideous spoilers piddling on V8 R8s and the V8 drivers would frown, wondering why they'd paid more for less etc. The V6 R8 drivers would feature their cars in Max Power, lowering resale value, and normal R8 drivers would be subject to random police stops for no apparent reason.
