verdict:
if they were really as cheap as suggested by the basic list price there would be nothing to say against the VW Scirroc 2.0 TSI DSG and the Volvo C30 T5. But with all the options especially the Scirrocoo is becomg much too expensive. The Volvo might be more powerful, it beats the Scirocco at the track but not in straight-line acceleration, handling and braking. A more direct steering, a different set-up and a better brake would be ebnefitial to the Volvo.

The Scirocco it's a very noce ride...but the price seems to high.

I love the new VW but a Volvo beat it around the ring and it's time was 30 seconds off the Megane. It's a pretty coupe but it is no world beater.

I like Scirocco better... It's far away from perfect, but with reasonable options and price, of c', it seems like a nice car.

The Volvo doesn't even offer the kind of options that the Scirroco does, and you're not forced to tick the box.

A slight bias going on here me thinks.
That must be one 'Loaded' Scirocco for it to be nearly 10K over base list (about 29k euro for a 2.0 tsi DSG - am i right?)

Dont quite get how a lighter more nimble Scirocco that (just) out-performs the C30 even in a straight line is 2 seconds slower around the 'ring. (??)
Thats surely thats got to be the driver not getting the best from the VW.
Have there been any other independant times for the Scirocco on the 'ring?

Evo mag have a quite interesting test of the Scirocco / C30 / 1 series / RX8 this month.
The VW humbled the C30 on challenging country roads.
O.K, the C30s brakes were said to be past their best (it was Evo's long termer), but was still outclassed by the VW.
