I must say I'm very impressed by the lap times the RS6 Avant achieved vs. the opposition.

Not to mention the S5 and the TTs vs. the BMW 135i.

A 2+ ton estate that gets in just behing the Corvette C6, Porsche GT2, F430 Scud and the likes ( I know a few seconds matters, but still no one was faster).

The Passat R36 isn't a bad choice fot the family man either...

(Toppfart = Top speed)

Btw, the lap time for the Lexus IS-F was 8.18 min on the Nordschleife, tested by Sport Auto.

About the same as a BMW M3 E46 :)

The RS6

Can you please translate what's that to the right? Why is the TT-S third?

That's one of the journalist's favourite cars, in a list.

not that impressed regarding the m3 cabrio witch is just 1 sec slower and really not that fast.

Other question did the merc have the PP, since we know that the "differential sperre" makes a huge diference.

KLeiner Kurs Hockenheim was more than 1 sec with ore without...

Sorry don't know if the Merc had a diff or not.

Some notable scalps there for the S5! Good to see it ahead of things like the M3 Cab, IS-F, Evo X and WRX STi. Oh, and http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/images/smilies/1.gif

Wow! The GT2 and Scuderia are faster then the Atom. The RS6 is just a little bit slower then the C C6! And we are not talking in seconds here. That's great, no? The C6 does quick times as a supercar and the RS6 is just on its tail.

Very happy about the results!

The M3 cabrio has more power then the S5 and is just 0,1 sec slower then the M3 coupé. So both (cab and coup) are very fast cars. It's an achievement that the S5 overtops it. Thinking that the S5 is the rival of the 335i and not the M3.

A video on the site of the S1: http://www.teknikensvarld.se/tvtv/080808-audi-s1-grupp-b/index.xml -->just listen at the sound and the gear change!!

Can't understand a word his saying. Do I care? Someone tell me:)

I am surprise why some journalist give sportie Audi a bad rap, namely the S models, they compare them to the likes of the 335i in the case of the S5 and the 135i in the case of the TT/S. This review shows that both models are at a cut above both Beemers and justify their difference in prices.

It's more amazing that the S5 bested the M3Convertible, their respective PTW are very similar thus proving that my old girl is as good as an M3.

Maybe this is a useless contribution but: Beautifully said, Lead.

the M3 convertible is almost 1900 kg compared to the 1650 of the Audi.

But I personally think that this hype about the Nordschleife is, well how should i but it.......the Nordschleife is surely difficult to drive as it is very long and has the psychological factor of almost no run out areas. Makes it hard fro the driver but except of 3 or 4 places nothing really hard on the breaks or that it might require some good traction. it is a fast one way country road............

If you check some car comparison from other countries, some cars beat cars which have been much stronger on the NS.

Take some tracks in italy, Varano or Misano, Porsches and other rear wheel driven cars have massive problems on the track to beat the 4 wheel driven cars......no traction.......

and the other thing is thta people always say that this or that car has laped the NS in 7.xx min then you see them and they make it in 12 min .

I like this test , because the ultra quick atom has no real traction when it comes to low speed corners

whats wrong with them.

m vs m, dont see any mistakes on this one.

And again if we critisise them, then we should do the rs6.com videos

A rolling start is the only test they do. They should do a drag from standstill and laptimes also if they want me to rely on them.

It's a great community though. They've got alot of participants with a great variety of cars.

Hey, I want to make the rs6.comvideos! But I'm going to be honest with you: I don't drive an rs6 (:() and I don't even drive a car that would fit between a bunch of super-Audi's. So you don't have to rely on me setting stuff like this up.

If I win euromillions I promise you I will be the owner of a stunning circuit :king: . And an RS6. And you guys can come and play in my garden every day.

Lets no get ahead of yourselves here. The S5 beat the M3 convertible, a great result but it wouldn't have beaten or got close to the M3 coupe, to say it could would be like saying it's as quick as the RS4 and that clearly isn't true.

The point I was wanting to make was that in acceleration the M3cab and S5 are pretty close with the M3 holding a slight advantage and though the M3cab is slower than the coupe it's still not a shabby drive, this proves that the S5 is a good handling car and would be quicker than it's true rival, the 335i.

But then we already knew that. :D

I agree with Leadfoot on that point.
But S5 and 335i showed more or less the same time at the Ring - 8:25

Hey Eric, do you know how many different drivers did they use for this test or has it been one driver only
