I know that aftermarket is available, but is there any OEM equipment on the RS6 for synching phone and doing calls through the car speaker system? thanks JT

But you may be able to add it in. I just ordered a complete RNS-E system for mine and there's an optional blue tooth module that, if I understood correctly, replaces the OnStar system.

Contact Brian Kohler from this web site http://www.vagnavs.com/Audi3.html

He'll be able to answer your question. (and sell you the stuff needed if it works)

It doesn't need to replace the onstar system, but if you have the onstar system already, that means you can save on the microphone. As kfab said, with the RNS-E, you can add the BT module to integrate the phone. It's supposedly very awesome. When I upgrade to the RNS-E, I'll definitely be adding that as well.

I contacted Brian and he sent me the below link...for us with the Rs6 the way to go is the on-star set-up and obviously you need the RNSE. I just bought an RNSE from a private seller with an aftermarket bluetooth set up and i'm going to try it but may go the on-star route as I like clean OEM and really do not want to see the microphone. Installing this weekend.

Probably the best website that offers Bluetooth kits is here.
<http://store.nsxjr.com/>
Pricing is $449 and $749 depending on the option you choose..

I have RNS-E in my RS6 with Bluetooth. I think he was asking if there is an OEM option for Bluetooth to be added to the stock Bose Symphony system correct? If that is the question, then no. If you want to "aftermarket" your head unit to RNS-E then yes but the Bluetooth addition is a waste of money IMHO since the sound quality with the mic really sucks and the connection is always being lost. It pings your phone on and off as well and wears down the phone's battery very quickly. I gave up after trying several different phones and shut it off. Using a BlueTooth headset works way better. Save $500 and just get the awesome RNS-E. The sound quality is much better and it has a lot of other nice goodies that upgrades the 2003 RS6 to near-current standards. Audi uses the current RNS-E unit in non-MMI Audis and Lambos.

very different experience here. my oem b/t setup w/rns-e works very very well. i have used it for 2 years with a blackberry pearl, sony p1, and now an iphone. i get full integration including calls sent/received/missed, as well as all my contacts. the big screen makes this so much better than alternative single line b/t interfaces.

what i don't have is voice activtation. i have investigated this, and it is easily possible with oem parts, but requires the mfsw which is not something i want to do.

I recently bought a brand new RSN-E (from Haaggie), Audi CD changer (Sunset Porsche/Audi), and Bluetooth unit from NSXjr. From all of the research I did, the only complaint I found was from the (apparently unavoidable) loud "beep" noise that goes through the car's speakers upon BT activation.
If you make a purchase through Lee (NSXjr), you'll be pleased.
