Milltek or MTM exhaust

I beleive the attached link is a MTM exhaust which sounds, I think, much more muscular (noiser I know) than the oval Milltek that seams to be the more common exhaust fitted.

1. Is it true that the Milltek is the only one approved by audi? and if so, so what ! what problems can an MTM exhaust cause - would it invalidate any warranties?

2. what do people think of this system compared to the Milltek?



Seperate question but in My hunt for an RS6, I might as well consider an RS6 Plus but is this a higher group insurance and are there other costly issues that the Plus attracts over and above the standard RS6?

Hi,, I don't think MTM is the only one approved by Audi as my car came brand new tuned by ABT with full exhaust system and it really sounds veryyy muscular too.

Mr. Balsen would be the best resource on the MTM exhaust, especially on the other side of the pond...

I think Fonzie has the Milltek with straight pipes and I can't remember what Boosted Bora (Drew) has, but it does sound good...

I've got straight pipes leading back to AWE mufflers with Milltek Tips. Very, very happy.

I'm a Milltek fan, and love the large oval. Not a big fan of the quad tip on the RS6 - M5, M6, M3, ect all have quad. RS6 is set aside from the rest with the large oval. Plus, Bob from Stratmosphere explained it like this: think of a tuba and trumpet. mouthpieces, piping are the same size - the difference in sound comes from where the air is released. Quad (smaller) tips produce a higher pitched, large ovals produce a deeper, throatier pitch.

I don't know how much truth that holds, but it's all about what makes you proud.
